I'm getting my new to me Mod 700 BDL (factory chambered) 300 Wby braked and a TT Trigger put in. I went to Walkers Earbuds to use in the Field when using a braked rifle. I know the brake will reduce the felt recoil, but was just wondering what any other braked 300 Wby shooters thought of the recoil? Was it "like" an unbraked '06, 270 or 7mm Mag? Just brainstorming! Any and all opinions welcome! :)

I have a drilled hole brake on my 338 Jarrett. Not quite the same thing but I’m running 250 gr Accubonds at 2950 and I would say recoil is about the same as my 06 with 180s. Definitely less recoil than my 300 HH with 180s. I think you’ll be happy.

As I've said before on this site, I have shot 300 Wby in many configurations.
With a brake I think they're less than a 30-06.
Get a suppressor and while the recoil increases a bit vs a brake, the lack of bang really makes it enjoyable. I could shoot mine all day long.

I've got a Williams Tactical brake with the shark gills (5) on my 338 RUM. It's pretty effective on the recoil. My wife has shot it with 250 gr AB at 3100 fps and said recoil wasn't bad at all.
I bought a 5 port brake from Nathan for a friend to put on his 7 PRC. The felt recoil with Hornady 180 gr factory loads felt like a 243 Win.
A good brake like Nathan's 5 port will make your 300 Wby feel like a 270 Win.

My 300 Wby is not braked and it’s very manageable with my 165gr TTSX load.

I had a MBM Brake on my 300wby and I would say it felt like a 308, but the noise was wild. After a few shots, I would have a headache from the blast while wearing plugs with muffs over the top. I put a Banish 30 on it and it is very comfortable to shoot.

I have a MKV 24" non-brake and some MKV 26" braked. Braked is less than 30.06 for sure, but hard for me to compare as my 30.06 is Braked.
I do recommend either double ear plugs, or the best you can buy. Just my opinion.

A braked 300 Wby may feel somewhat like a non-braked 7mm Mag, though the actual experience can vary depending on the brake and rifle setup. It should be much more manageable than an unbraked 300 Wby, but the muzzle blast and noise could still be intense, especially without ear protection.
