I shoot a remington sendero in 300 wby. A few years ago the ammo I was using was discontinued and I can't find any that gets me a decent grouping. I would like to try to reload, but have never done it before. Does anyone have a load that I can start with? - Thanks -
300 WBY Load?

most of my loads are usually close to a max charge of powder , or over max . so do not just throw this load together and try it . you always need to start with a low powder charge and work up . what's safe in my rifle could be dangerous in yours .
the load I'm using is with a 180 grain AccuBond bullet , remington brass , fed 215 primer , Hodgdon H1000 powder @ 87.8 grains , 3.725 COAL , ave velocity is about 3170FPS . it groups well in my rifle .
the other powder I've played with was IMR7828 , it showed very good promise using the same components as my other load . I really need to give this powder an honest try . maybe after hunting season . Jim

Well, I will not list a specific load for you or any other person just wanting to start reloading.
I can tell you, my Remington 700 Classic chambered in 300 Weatherby shoots best with RL 22 powder. I have tried a bunch of stuff but that just works best.
I have a very good load worked up for the 180 grain Partition that is my favorite, but since I live in this ignorant part of CA I have to shoot lead free bullets here. So, I have a good load worked up for the Barnes 168 grain TSX.
I suggest you get the Nosler and Barnes manuals and work up from there.
Just be sure to use a magnum primer (Fed 215 or 215M is preferred), and do not mix brands of brass. Remington brass has a good deal less capacity than Weatherby (Norma) brass. When loading 180 grain bullets I have to drop my powder charge 1.5 grain if I use Remington brass.

Both my son and I get great results with RL-25 in our 300 Wby's. His does it with 200 grainers and mine with 180 AB's. Mine also likes 7828 with 168 TSX's, 3310 fps and great groups! That old add for 7828 loads might hold true in a Mark V and real Wby brass, but they would blow primers or worse in my model 70 and Remington brass. With 84.5 grains of IMR-7828 SSC my Model 70 chrono'd 3287 with 180 AB's, can you imagine if I had just popped in 86 grains from the start!!!!! Be careful and work up to those loads! In my old German Mark V it really liked RL-22 and 180's, so every gun can be different. Have fun with your toy and be safe!

I've had good results with H1000 and 180gr'ers in my 300Wby. I've also had good results with IMR7828ssc (uses the same data as regular 7828). And as you've already been cautioned here (which you also already know if you're a handloader at all):
START LOW AND WORK UP CAREFULLY.
What works in my rifle may be over or under in yours. You'll never go wrong if you start with the start charge and COL and work up carefully from there. In the case of the IMR data FOTIS posted above, just drop back 10% (which would be starting at about 77.5gr of IMR7828) and work up carefully.

This is great this is my first time posting in this forum, but I joined specifically because of this topic,I have been reloading a little over a year now but only pistol ie .380 ,9mm and my favorite my 10mm so I understand basics but I just received my 300 Weatherby ollet sizing dies and Lee factory crimper and I purchased the collet sizing dies because I would lime to use the shoulder of the case supported by the chamber no the belt and Iam using once fired brass .So my big question is I have a Remington 700 classic in .300Weatherby with a 24" barrel, I wanted to try some 165 grain Accibond but I don't know what powder to start with I've heard reloader 22 is good anybody have any useful input it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

In no particular order, RL-19, H-1000, H-4831, and W-780 are the powders I used in my 300 Roy and each of them shoots sub 1" groups with 180gn Interlocks and Accubonds @ 100 yards using a bipod as a front rest. By the way, I've never tired any other powders so I guess this mean my 300 Roy likes everything I feed it.
Do not be surprised when your most accurate loads are near maximum or at the maximum load. A grain and a half short of max is still close to max in my book, but every rifle is different and yours might like a slightly lower load or a lighter bullet.

Thanks for the great intelligent feedback it is so much appreciated, I have shot alot of 150.grain which my 700 despised probably dies to 1 in 10" and my best 3 shot group was .66" 3 inches high at 100 yards with Remington 180 grain Corlokts so for lower recoil and some increase in velocity I want to try 165 grain Accibond s where in live in SW Az the deer don't weigh more than 120 #s on the hoof but my shots have been at looonnggg ranges (for me over 350-467 yards) so I want some velocity of course accuracy but something that will expand the 180 grain jackets ecspicially the federal with Barnes xzx shocks didn't expand well .

Every deer hit by my son or me with an Interlock bullet has gone down within four or five steps. Cup and core hunting bullets are plenty strong for deer, even when you hit a shoulder or a front leg. If you have to battle cross winds, the 180gn bullets will do better than the 165s-----provided your rifle likes the 180s.

A man in our town that I have known for many years has a Rem 700 Classic in 300 Wby bought new. They came out in 1989 so he has been using it for 25 years now. He uses the 180 gr Hornady Spire Point with H 4831 and knocks down a moose pretty much every year. It is very well worn but obviously is still accurate and has been dependable.

Thanks gerry,yep mine has a bunch of mountain rash as well I get good groups with Corlokts 180 I would like to try AccuBond 165 ir Silvertip 165 or Etip 168 for flatter trajectory and less were and tear on My shoulder I had a rotator surgery on have a 270 a 243 but I really love my "Bee"
