I have finally got my model 70 to shoot by full length bedding the barrel and of course the action is bedded too! I tried a couple of loads last night and both were 3/4 inch or less at 100 yds. I chronographed the Nosler 180 AB load at 3250 fps plus a little.
180 AB
87 grains RL-25
CCI 250 primers
No pressure signs at all, no primer pocket expansion, no marks, easy bolt lift. This load was my best accuracy prior to the full length bedding at 1 3/4 inch. I shot another group with 180 Hornady flat base bullets with the same powder charge right over the previous group and it was just slightly better in accuracy. The above load will be my elk load this year. I will post some pictures of groups later.
