I'm a huge fan of the 338's and I'll bet you could put one on a diet to get it down a little.
 
Bill you probably right. My M70 338 seems to be just right for weight and such. Pretty pleasant to shoot from the field and carries pretty nicely. It doesn't have the butt your Lapua or Jim's RUM does but I is still packing plenty of power out there. At least enough for me. Scotty
 
The fast 338's are just more of a good thing. :wink:
I agree with Bill. slim down a fast 338 to 8.0 lbs and there you go.

My 700 LSS weighs about 8.75 lbs with the Mark 4 scope.
