Sorry, I think it has been covered, but the search feature did not work for me.
I have a good load with the 180X & RL25, but I want to switch to the 180Acc. & thought I would take this time to kill 2 birds with 1 stone along with the Acc & use a temp. insen. powder. I have a very accurate Lam. Sendero & my goal is 3,100fps with this 26" tube. I have heard good things about H1000. Gentlemen, your thoughts?
Thanks

If I were looking for a temperature insensitive powder for use in a 300 Winchester Magnum my first choice would be H 4350. Works great for me in a number of applications.

I used H4831 for years with great success, (temperature insensitive) i doubt there is such a thing.

Thanks guys. 6ppcar, I meant in relative terms. I need to load some rounds for little brother. He has a permit for a Cow Elk here in Arkansas &
he said his A Bolt is not doing well & my Sendero is a tack driver. I have some RL22 & I just bought some 180Accubonds. I thought I would kill 2 birds with one stone & use an extreme powder, but the RL22 may do fine, but we are expecting a big temp. drop for his hunt which begins Monday of next week. I will work up a load this week while it is warm, I may be reading too much.

All the Hodgdon powders with 4 digits (the Extreme label) are temperature insensitive. Norma MRP is considered to be very temp insensitive. Some of the Ramshot slower burning powders also.

Have you looked into IMR 7828SSC? I have had some very good luck with it in 300 WM. Velocity's on it are very nice, and consistancy from about 40F to 105 F are pretty reasonable. Sorry I do not have my chrono data at hand or i would give you ES / temp / velocity ect. I am out of state for a couple more weeks on a job. But if memory serves me: IMR7828SSC (super short cut), Fed 215M primers or Win LRM, and Nosler custon brass with 180AB's worked out very good. The local pig population hated them! My testing of RL25 was some what limited, but for me it started out less consistent than H4831SC, or IMR7828SSC. It happened to be last on the bench and with the very good previous powders results I shrugged and loaded up the IMR having ran out of patience in light of a couple other very workable loadings to go explore and test.

Happy shooting,
Gary
