Anyone given this a whirl with 180 grain Nosler bullets of any kind?

Been unable to get any kind of 4350 (my go-to in the WSM and my 30-06) and picked up some 7828SSC the other day at Sportsmans Warehouse here in Ammon. Any recipes?

Looking to launch 180 gr ABs and BTs at 2950-3000 fps. Just like my old 4350 loads do. :)

A little slow! However a compressed load

Did you try RL 17?

I agree with Fotis, it is a touch slow for the 180's, but probably still usable, you will have some powder compression in order to get full speeds, but I didn't have much luck with RL22, which is about the same burn rate.

The 4350's have been a very accurate powder I just cant find any right now with things being the way they are. Dad shoots RL-22 in his 300 WSM but recently he found out that my 4350 loads were more accurate even in his rifle. Even then, RL-17, 19, and 22 are unavailable on any shleves in this area, jsut like the 4350. IMR-7828SSC is what I can find right now...guess I will just guinea pig it myself. Will post if it shoots worth posting. :) Thanks for the advice.

On a secular note, do you guys burn with Standard Rifle Priemrs in this cartridge or Margnum? I have never used the 215s as they seem excessive for this cartridge. Though I have had great luck with the Standard primers I am curious if anyone uses the magnum primers. Also I have considered the Fed 210 Match Primers.

I've used both LR and LRM primersd in the 300WSM. Somewhat more pressure generated with LRM primers, but no significant difference in accuracy when everything is considered. Because it is a shorter powder column, the large rifle primers will ignite quite well. Velocities work up to be identical, so there is no difference in using LR or LRM primers.

Thanks Doc. I see no reason to change was only considering an experiment thinking especially with a slow burner like 7828 that a magnum cap may be a better way to go. I have seen even short action cases benefit from a magnum cap when Spherical powders were used at times.

Thanks for the advice friend. Its always sound.

Cant wait to get some 180 BTs and load up a few for the range with the 7828.

Hope it turns out.
