300gr AB in the .378Wby

Just picked up a box and was wondering what a good powder / charge weight would be good to start with. Also, will the bullet hold up to the velocity?

This has almost the same capacity as the 338 Lapua. With that said, a slow burner like the H-1000 and Retumbo on the Hodgdon brand or Reloader 22 and 25 on the Alliant will be your choice.

I don't think you have to worry about the AccuBond not holding together! I pushed the 300 grain Sierra SMK at around 2950 fps from a 9.35 twist barrel on my Lapua with no issue whatsoever. These from a swage bullet.

Yeah, those powders would work. Any ideas on how the bullet holds up at the .378's high velocities on game? Would hate to have it turn into a varmint grenade :shock:

As an owner of a 375RUM using 260ABs, you will be golden using the 378WBY and 300ABs. Nosler's online reloading data shows velocities just a hair below 3000FPS. You MAY be able to achieve a little more, but you'll still be golden.

Here's what Hodgdon states for a 378WBY & 300PT:
