Since the Reloader series of powders are now unavailable to the public, what if the benefit of the 300 PRC over the 300 Win Mag? Velocities are the same with available powders and at lower charge weights. Modern cartridge design, blah blah blah.

You can run 220s with the 300 Win Mags 1-10" twist.

I'm making an observation not an argument. I guess what I mean is if you have a good 300 Win Mag today, there is no appreciable difference worth "Upgrading" to. If you gave me a new Proof Research 300 PRC I would gladly take it!

I don't think there's any reason to get rid of a good 300 WM for the 300 PRC or 257 Weatherby for a 25 RPM etc unless you have your heart set on running very heavy high BC bullets. The 300 PRC can run 245+ gr bullets, your factory twist 300 WM cannot. So it's honestly just preference on what you want. I don't think any of the new cartridges are inherently more accurate. A well built gun and load have more to do with accuracy than the shape of your brass.

I personally enjoy the 300 PRC case design W/O the belt. The PRC case design is inherently accurate and less finicky than belted mag's (more consistent and less head space failure/issues, especially when annealing brass)...just my anecdotal information. I did change my 300 WM and 7RM guns to 300 PRC and 7PRC and have been extremely happy. Swapped out barrels on both with Shilen barrel nut system...amazing accuracy and ballistics.

The PRC was made for a SOF unit to shoot 250 ELDs. It needed an 8 twist in order to fully stabilize the bullet.

While the 300 Win will stabilize the 212, 215 and even 225-230 bullets it’s not optimal at a 1-10 to get all the BC the bullet has.

And I guess where do you find factory loaded long and heavies that fit in a 300 Win 3.34” box. Yes, you can mod a 300 Win to accept 3.6” or longer but it’s not a factory package you can grab a rifle off a rack and a box of ammo and go to the range.

My brother has a 3.650 magazined 1-8 300 Win and it’s an animal but he spent some coin to make it so. Nowadays you can buy a Springfield or Seekins and a number of others for under 1500 bucks in 300 PRC, add a scope and ammo and you’re shooting.

does anyone know if the new factory PRC's still have the resizing problem , caused by the tight chambers ?

I have not seen this issue for a while. I believe most barrel/gun manufactures and reamer manufactures have caught up since the initial craze when this caliber 1st came out of the wildcat status.

As stated, the PRC has a modern case design that is more efficient than the Win Mag. If a fella were to use a fast twist barrel on a Win Mag he wouldn’t be handicapped with the 30 cal heavyweights.
For me, I just reach for the 338 RUM with the 250 gr AB and don’t look back. It has a 9t so the 300 hr ABLR shoots very well should I need the extra horsepower.
