My best load came with IMR-4831. 69.5grs, 165gr bullet, WLR primer not the WLRM primer.Rick.

I have had some success with 66.5 grains of IMR4831 and WLRM primers. I have also had great success with 64 grains of H380 and WLRM primers. Yet another load that worked well has been WLRM primers and 59 grains of RL15. These are each below maximum charge, yielding sub-MOA groups in a variety of rifles. I have not used either W780 or H100V in my 300 WSM. QuickLOAD suggests a maximum charge of 72.5 grains of W780 and 66.5 grains of H100V will yield good velocities.

Rick points out an important issue. Magnum primers are not required in the short magnums unless you are shooting ball powder or shooting in extremely cold weather. Federal 210 are used in almost all my 180 grain loads in the 300 WSM, as well as in the 270 WSM, the 7mm WSM and the 325 WSM. Unless your powder or the weather dictates magnum primers, large rifle primers will work just fine. The shorter powder column does not require the hotter primers for complete ignition.

Assuming they are available to you, you can perhaps wring a bit more velocity out of the cartridge by using some slower powders, such as MagPro (77 grains), Hunter (69.5 grains) and N560 (74 grains).

I load for a friend with a .300 WSM. I don't use the 165 in his rifle, but the 180 gr. AccuBond. I used Federal LRM primers, Winchester cases, and 180 gr. Accubonds. I tried W760, H4350, IMR4350, H4831SC, and IMR4831. I ended up with my best groups with H4831SC and IMR4831. What was interesting was the fact that even though the loads are different and the powder burn rates are slightly different, the best load with each powder chronographed an average of 2930 fps, within 5-fps of each other. It was the sweet spot for his rifle and barrel with this bullet using these two powders. Although this velocity was achieved with some of the other loads, I never got the groups that I did with these two.
With H4831SC, the Nosler book listed 70.0 grs. as the maximum load, and this is the one that produced the best accuracy. My 3 shot group with this load was .272!!
With 65.5 grs. of IMR4831, which is listed as a couple of grains below maximum, the 3 shot group was just under half an inch at about .448 if I remember correctly!
At this point, I did not think I needed to look any further as both performed excellently. Good luck with your load work. It's a fun cartridge to load for. Go to Hodgdon on the internet and you can pull up their latest load information for some of the new powders such as H100V. I forgot to mention that, but it's another excellent resource to use.
My best load for the 165 AccuBond in my 300WM is a max load of H 4350.
However, I use the magnum Federal primer, (Fed215M). The WSM cases may be short, but they are FAT. They are burning a lot of powder. I use FED 215M primers in my 270 WSM and my 300 WSM. (Have to admit I have never tried anything else.)

I load for another buddy's 300 WSM. My Recipe consist of 168 grain Barnes TSX and 67 grains of IMR4831 on a Remington case. I use Winchester WLR primer.
I'm shooting max load of 65.5gr/H-4350 with Fed 215 primer 165gr win cases and that loads works for a number of 165gr bullets in my rifle. Since 2003 with 3 different 300WSM I've used R-19/22,H-4831,IMR-4350,
IMR-4007ssc and had pretty good luck with those powders also.
I tried some R-17 yesterday with 165/180gr bullets didn't get any chorongaphing done but loads look promising. Well good luck

Very interesting! I was using Hodgdon's 2009 printed guide and they list 780 and Hybrid 100 as the fastest powders but their powder weights looked a little off for this cartridge. Could this be a little product positioning for their newest powders :?: I wanted to start with several of the faster powders and shoot for groups. What I was hoping for was an accurate load(1 moa) and as close to 3100fps as I could get. This will be the first load that I'll get to play with OAL on. I can load these out to 2.970 before they hit the lands because magazine length is 3+". I also have a box of 200gr Accubonds and with that amazing B.C. of .588 they might make an excellent long range round. Thanks to all who responded and especially POP and Dr. Mike with the Quickload info - that is a wonderful tool.

I also picked up some 200gn Accubonds and just "threw" together a load of RL-22 @ 67gns and just set to 2.87OAL. They shot just fine - 3 shots were less the MOA and I just went out to the 250yd gong and made a slight adj and then 350yd and banged a few times and here the gun sits. I haven't played with it since hunting season rushed upon us. I'm going to play with the the 200s and 180s. I'm curious how yours is going to turn out also.

IMR 4064 58.5 most accurate. He has a 300 WSM BAR for hunting deer here in West Maryland.
