33 WCF, Questions

Had a strange misfire with the gun. After about 35 rounds he got a bullet stuck. We got it out with liquid wrench, brass rod and hammer. The primer fired, the powder did not and a plug of yellow colored powder was in the neck covering the rest of the powder. Powder was w748, primer CCI large rifle.

Ideas?

As this was put together at the "Husband in law"s house, we didn't tumble the bullets and I am wondering if the RCBS liquid lube was left in the brass and effected things?

The 33 Winchester has a bullet diameter of .338, so there are some good choices out there. Two options that you might look at are the 200 grain jacketed flat points from Hawk or the 200 grain .338/.33 Winchester bullets from Rim Rock. I helped a neighbor, has passed now, form brass from 45-70 and load. We loaded 200 grain bullets with IMR-3031 and I know that he shot several deer with that combination. The rifle has since pasted to a son, who has also taken at least one deer with it. He had sent me a text message that included a picture of it.
