1st post here! Be nice!

Thought it might be useful to have one thread where folks can post up the load data/recipes that worked for them, and maybe even a range target(paper, steel, rock, jug etc) of their results.

I'll put it out there first that load data is an individual decision/responsibility, and specific and unique to the rifle, shooter, and that specific lot of components. No one but yourself should be more interested in your own personal safety than you, and those that shoot/hunt with you! Don't do something stupid, and expect to blame anyone but yourself!

I hope to be posting data for the following rifles once I'm back here in a month or two-

Rem 700, 10 twist 29.5" Hart, 338 Edge
Weatherby Mark V, 10 twist 26" Brux, 338 Lapua
Weatherby Mark V, 9.8 twist 28" Brux, 338 Lapua Ackely Improved

If you do have some load data/insight to share, please include:

Barrel mfg (if not factory)
Barrel length
Twist
Chambering
Primer
Powder
COAL / distance from lands
MV
*If you've got a downrange velocity to share, or any drop data at distance, bonus! I'm very interested in seeing if the published .720 BC is realized

I'm thinking my 300 gr SMK/Berger data might be a good place to "edge up" to during load development...so if any of you shoot those, and have a comparison of where you ended up with the 300 NABs, that might be usefull stuff too.

Thanks in advance for all those that contribute to the thread. I'll be sure to post back with my results as well.

If this post broke any rules, square me away! Thanks!

Welcome to the forum sir.

There have been quite a not of excitement over this bullet. I do know that seconds were available from the Shop but they were grabbed up very fast.
As for myself I have a new 340 Wby and I do not have any 300 AB's at the time. Maybe in the future.

However I do believe many of our forum members are working with them currently.

As far as the .720 BC Nosler officials have verified it in real conditions not only through PC programs. We will see.

I ordered 200 of them from SPS and they shipped yesterday. I guess I'm building a Edge first since my buddy has a reamer and I have no clue when I'll get my Stiller TAC338's. I might try them in one of my .338 Baer's too. I'll add any info I can when I can.

My Edge will be a Rem. 700 SS with a Krieger 9.35" twist 30" long. When I get my TAC338's I intend on doing a .338 Lapua Imp. with a 36" Obermeyer 10" twist or a 30" Brux 9.35" twist.

Wow, that 338L your building should be something. Wonder how well the new RL33 will work? Seems like it was made for the big 338's...

Welcome. This is a pretty good crowd here. Mostly we just make fun of ourselves... or poke some good-natured fun at Scotty. :)

I'm not sure Scotty. It's sounds like it should be good but the data I saw post wasn't overly impressive for velocity.

I'm actually more excited about doing a .375-.338 Lapua Imp on the other Stiller action (I thought about doing a switch barrel in .416 Rigby Imp but with Lapua brass). I'm a sucker for big guns and have killed more big game with my .375-.358STA and .416 Rem. then anything except maybe my muzzleloader. Those big Cutting Edge bullets are breathing life into the big bores for long range. Also a buddy of mine want's to have a contest to see who can shoot our elk the furthest this year. I usually don't go looking for the longest shot I can take but hopefully if the shot is there I'm prepared and I hate to lose at anything  .

Welcome to the forum.

Your 338 Lapua build sounds nice.

I hae some 338 300 gr AB's enroute and should hit my door early next week.

Need to work up a load for my 338 RUM and verify. They I will test them at 600 and 800 yds.
Can't wait to lob some lead.

RL33 should be a good powder but Allient is waiting for some final approvals then they will begin to ship.
I am going to start with Retumbo, H1000 and RL 25 in my 338 RUM.

That 375 should be a horse as well. Those are some big rifles you hunt with buddy. Makes my poor little 35 and 338WM's look like a 30-06!

David, just in case you didn't notice, that last bit was aimed at you!

You know Scotty my ears must have been ringing cause you was talking trash about me! :p It sure wasn't because I'm getting my e-mail post updates, cause I aint! Non-the-less I took that shot in stride my friend. You forget that I forgot all about that 8mm Mauser in the mix and neglected for a long time to mention it. Did we forget that I have a .323 bore diameter residing in the house?

Speaking of big bores Scotty, did you guys notice that with all that whining and carrying on you guys were making about your 338's, your 35 Whelens, and 375 Heck & Hecks, that Nosler side-stepped the 6mm 90 gr. AccuBond they have been promising us?   Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr to you big bore bullies! :p

David, it's okay.. I am sure they will be along soon enough. I am sure that 90 AB is adequately tough for coyotes and fox!

Just kidding, I know you or some kid you adopt for hunting season is going to smoke some elk with the 90 AB and I will be eating Spike Tag Soup again..

Waiting on you guys to shoot some 300 AB through your .340 Bees. Anxious to find out about velocities and accuracy. Loads will be good too but I probably will not go the RL30 route. Anyhow, waiting patiently for this bullet to get tested.

Guess you will just have to come out and go hunting with me Scotty and maybe we can solve that issue! Last couple years I've been the elk guide and not the elk hunter!

Hmmmm. I bet Scotty is getting pretty good at making that "spike tag soup" palatable.

Having finally settled on a load I got a chance to get out and verify some drops at a few distances. Load is 300gr AccuBond, Lapua brass, cci 250, 90.5gr H1000 seated at 3.69" COAL. Shooting them out of a Savage FCP HS with 26" barrel. Over the chronograph I was recording an average MV of 2680, but to get the numbers to match up on my ballistics program (shooter) I had to bump the MV to 2740. Not sure if this is actually the velocity I'm achieving or just compensating for an error somewhere else in the data? Anyway, from a 100 yard zero it took 3.75 MOA to hit the bull at 300 yards, and 10.25MOA to hit center at 534 yards. Here is my best group from the day, 3" group at 534 yards. First two are touching and with a left to right breeze I'm thinking there was a lull in the wind on the third in the bullseye. I was very happy with the vertical consistency.

The power of this round was pretty impressive....target was mild steel but it cratered it about half way through, and the third shot knocked the target out of the ground and tipped it over!

And a picture of the sticks that got to come out and play today just for fun. Front is Rem 700 22-250, rear is the savage .338LM. It was an absolutely gorgeous day!

Impressive shooting!
Looks like you have a great load.

I should be shooting next weekend.

Thanks JD. It's nice to finally be done with the development phase and on to just getting out and shooting at various ranges. I'm excited to see how this one does in your RUM!
