338 300 gr Accubond Loading Data/Range Results thread

I just got my bag of 300's yesterday but it didn't include the data other guys got when they bought boxes of'em. I checked the website and there's no data posted yet.

Would anyone who got the data with their bullets please list what it shows for loading them in the puny(compared to Lapuas, etc) little .338 Win Mag please?

Thanks, Ron

Thanks Shoots 5, at least now, I can explapolate some data to get a starting load for the .340 Weatheby.

You could also use Sierra load data for their 300 gr SMK for a starting point.

Fellas, thank you for the warm welcome.

I checked back in on this thread, and see I'm not the only one excited about these bullets!

Thanks to all who posted data/results.

JD, look forward to your extended range results.

Those that have tried a couple different seating depths.... what distance are these bullets responding for you what depth would you recommend starting out at. I usually start at .020 from lands, and work in at .005 increments. If no joy, then back off to .030 and work out at .010 increments.

My 700 LSS 338 RUM is loaded to max magazine length, which is 3.640".

this what i have found 5 rounds each

90 gr. retumbo 2738,2782,2759,2779,2768
91 gr. retumbo 2810,2842,2830,2745?, 2800
92 gr. retumbo 2780, 2810, 2845, last 2 unfired will pull, loose pockets on first 3

she packs a wallop its definately a slammer

It was too windy here to test them today and tomorrow I'm building my .338 Edge. So I'll have to wait until next weekend to try and test them.

Man, your 90-91 load looks like a keeper. That is some serious HP for sure. How was the accuracy?

I am shooting 91.5 gr Retumbo in my 338 RUM with the 300 gr AB.
Accuracy is excellent, with a 8-9" group at 800 yds!

Wow, that is pretty hard to not like! Great shooting Jim.. Pictures?

Man, that must have been a ton of fun! Great shooting buddy!

I will try to shoot some tonight. I loaded 78-81grs of H-1000 in my .338 Baer. My usual load for H-1000 with 250's is 88grs and from what I can tell you need to drop about 8grs going up 50grs of bullet weight. I went a few extra because the bullet is seated so deep. My throat is set for 250's and because these are so long they take up a ton of case capacity. 81grs is a compressed load. Here is a bullet next to a loaded round.

Nice, looking forward to seeing how they shoot! Seems like they are shooting pretty well though..

I shot them this morning and they didn't shoot very well in my gun. This gun pretty regularly shoots in the .3's with 250gr bullets but I think the throat is just too short for optimal performance in my gun. The 78.1gr load shot 2640fps and is probably about max as the 79gr load had some ejector marks on the brass. The 79gr load shot the best at about 3/4" and 2686fps for velocity. I didn't shoot the 80 and 81gr loads. Time to pull some bullets I guess.

I might try some Retumbo tonight but I'm not sure I can get enough in the case with as deep as the bullets are seated. You can barely hear the powder rattle with the 78 and 79gr loads.

I was kind of interested in this bullet, purely from an engineering perspective, based solely on some terrific accuracy and penetration results with the old Speer hot core 275 gr in my Browning HiPower .338 WM. Certainly , for my present two .338 caliber rifles' daily use requirements, there are already many .338 diameter bullets available for hunting anything that I may be considering.

That is why I chose the .338 WM in the first place. Back in the mid to late 1960's there were fewer elk (here), longer seasons and light pressure after opening day. Kills success ratios were in the teens (%) but I still loved getting into the mountains and hunting them, never less.

It was a good thing for this 300 AccuBond to e marketed. There are many shooters who own super magnum .338 caliber rifles and shoot much more seriously at long range than I do. Plus any 300 grain bullet that can fly over 2800 fps has my respect. This bullet is still really new and I sure will find a niche for itself with the long range steel crowd for sure.

Nothing ventured, nothing gained.. Not much walking that a 250 won't lay low anyhow. Thanks for posting it up though.
