Hey guy's I'm about to pick up a new savage model 110 BA in the 338 lapua here in the next few weeks. Just wondering what are some of your loads that you use in yours. I will also be putting a US Optics scope on this big pig as well for the long range work. Thank you

What bullet weight will you be using? I have info with 250 grain and 225 grain bullets.

Good luck Corbin! I would like to mess around with one of them in the future as well. Got a few other irons in the fire! Scotty

That should be one cool rifle for long range shooting. Scotty and me are drooling over the 110 FCP H&S. Good luck and let us know how it goes.

corbin,

Congratulations on the 338 lapua. It is a serious long range hammer.
Post some pictures when you get her home.

Good choice Corbin. I use all kinds of slow burning powder in my 338 Lapua Ackley. I'm really surprised by the versatility demonstrated by this cartridge as far as powder selections go. I did settle on Retumbo since I use the 300 grain SMK exclusively. I also have good result with Reloader 25 with 250 grain SMK. I have a fire forming load using IMR 4831 and Hornady 250 BTSP that I have no problem popping clay pidgeon with at 500 yards.

Hey guy's finally got her home but it's not the 110 BA. I had to settle on the savage model 111 LRH in the 338 lapua due to the selection at the stores. I am thinking about putting some 300 smk's and some 300 grain berger hybrid bullets through her. Here is a few pictures if you haven't already seen it in the rifle part on this forum.
I mounted a 6.5-20x50 vortex viper on her.

Corbin, it really looks like a portable rifle. Glad to see you got it home and scoped up already. I would imagine there wouldn't be too much wrong with the 250 AB's either and you might get touch less recoil too! Good luck with it, I am looking forward to hearing about your range reports with the beast. Scotty

Thanks Scotty, I am really eager to put some rounds down the tube and see how she will do. From all the reviews I have read about this rifle she should be a real shooter!

Nice! Like it much better than their tactical setup.

Long range hunting or long range shooting?

I would imagine being a Savage, it should be a shooter. I have always wanted a Lapua and that seems to be the best way to get in on one. I like them a bunch. Scotty

It will be for both. Since I have used the 168 grain berger target vld on game with excellent results I am thinking the 300 grain berger hybrid should produce the same results but with a lot bigger bullet and at longer distances.

Man, i can't even imagine how deadly that 338 would be in the high country provided you had a good shooting area. Good luck with your load work Corbin. Your the only test mule here on Nosler with that rifle. Depending on how it shoots for you, I can see me saving up for one. Scotty
