Well I finally made it out to the range to start the break in on the new savage model 111 LRH in the 338 lapua mag. I don't have the reloading stuff yet so I bought a box of 285 grain hornady match bullets to start the break in. I am warning Scotty right now not to look at the pictures below, due to them being very persuasive.
All shots were at 100 yards from the very first shot.
This picture below shows the difference in size. left to right: 338 lapua 285 grain, 308 win 147 grain, 223 rem 55 grain NBT.
I shot a total of 6 rounds through the barrel while cleaning in between each round for break in.
The hole circled in red was the very first shot out of the barrel. The big hole behind the cover up paper circled with the green was the second out of the barrel (hit a metal plate behind the paper. the hole circled with yellow was the third shot out of the barrel. the big hole circled with the blue was shots four five and six. Yes you heard right shots 4, 5, 6 during break in process went into one big hole.
Here is a picture without the colors of the target shot.
