Talk to me guys. I have a lot of 300Win Mag case. How are they for making 338Win Mag cases by just putting them in the 338Win mag resizing die???? Also, how about 7mmRem mag case doing the same?????

There is a diff in case length and where the shoulder starts. So full length resize and trim after wards. You might need some fire-forming though. It can be done.

300 win mag is .100" longer than the 338, could be none but if its not new brass the longivity of it may not be worth the effort to make it.

You could use 7mm Rem Mag brass for 338 Win Mag but 300 Win Mag is too long.
Best bet is to get 338 Win Mag brass and have the correct head stamp on it.

Yeah, I know you are right, just trying to get enough brass to finish my load work without breaking the bank. It is not like my hunt in Arizona was without expenses. I have 50 new Rem brass coming that I bought off a person because there is no 338Win Mag Rem brass anywhere that I can find.

I just can't bring my self to spend over a dollar for a piece of 338Win mag brass, so Remington is my best choice. I will just have to slow down how much load work I do until I get more brass. Funny, I have got all the powder I need, primers and now bullets for the work. It is probably a good thing that I am going to have to slow up so I don't miss a good combination in my load work.

How many do you need? New or once fired?

With 50 coming I bought from someone, I need a minimum of 50 more and that will let me complete the load work for the 200gr 210gr and 225gr. I plan on after the first of the year to work on the 250gr load.

I will be working with the 200gr AccuBond and the 210gr Patition. I have already developed a good load with the 215gr Sierra. These three bullets represent the first phase of my bullet work. The 225gr AccuBond and Partition will be the second phase of load work for the 338Win Mag. Then I will in the third phase of load development work with the 250gr Partition and possibly one other which I have not chosen yet.

The first phase I need done before November 17th. The second phase and third phase will take place during December and in to January.

The powders I will be testing in the first phase using the light bullets will be as follows.

AA2495BR
RL-19
H4350
H414
IMR4350
IMR7828
H4831

Since every chamber is different, I think I will be able to find a powder, brass, bullet, primer combo that gives velocity and accuracy using the above mention powders. These light bullets will be used for deer and hogs.

I am interested in this topic. I have alot of 300WM brass and will never load it...have a gun but do not like it and it may be up for sale soon. So I guess what I am asking can this be safely done?? Some of the brass is new and some is once fired. Not that I do not trust any of you, but is there another place were one could could go to find out about the safety of doing this. As many cases I have it may make sense for me to do this...and I shoot the .338 alot and brass can get kinda spendy.

Thanks, Marty

Don't go through the trouble unless you are an accomplished reloader and willing to do all the work needed. I think that was explained on this thread. It can be done safely but it it not worth the trouble and you will run into a lot of problems.

Goose,

Sell the 300 Win Mag brass and go buy 338 Win Mag brass. Its your best bet in the long run.

This is a good contact for brass-
