375 Chatfield Taylor

He works for the local port, and is building up a cattle herd. Kind of a jack of all triats kind of guy. Kindness like that sure makes a person want to be a better person. I have every intention of paying it forward to somebody else some day.

Man, that is one great looking rifle and built on a 98 Mauser.. You can't do much better. Your boy might not ever have to look for a proper elk rifle. I would think it'll fling 260 AB's or PT's as fast as the 338WM does the 250's. Nothing to sneeze at there. Very classy looking rifle. What a gift!

Paul, you gotta show us a picture of the rifle buddy! Sounds very cool. I can see the hammer part! Never thought of the 375/338WM... Sounds like it would be pretty sweet.. Almost as much as the 375 Whelen!

I would if I could.

Did some looking around lastnight, think I'm going to order some 235 Speer Hot Cores to play with out of this little guy. Should be able to get them close to 3000, and they are $20 for 50 of them. If I can get them to shoot good, I might have to try it out on elk this fall. Wouldn't want my boy to have a rifle that won't kill an elk

The Speer's are a surprisingly tough bullet at 2700-2800 fps and accurate too, should work great for elk and blackies.

I would test as well. Good plan Jake. Don't want the boy to hunt with a faulty rifle.. Although, if you can catch some 260 AB's, those might be fun too?
