375 Ruger 300 gr Accubond Range Results

This gun makes me happy I can't believe how easy it is to reload for. Loaded up some 300 gr Accubonds with Big Game which has worked so well with other bullets. I loaded 1 at 75, 3 at 76, 3 at 77 and 3 at 78 gr which is 1 grain under Ramshot's max load with the 300 gr Partition, the groups kept getting tighter as I went up. Shooting prone from sand bags 78 gr of Big Game gave me this group, a nice looking .596" cluster. If I can come even close to duplicating this again reloading will be complete. I wasn't able to chronograph it since my Chrony needs to be sent away to be fixed but speeds should be in the 2550 fps range. Stay tuned I hope to do a bullet test this weekend.

I think that rifle is a keeper! Always wanted the 375 or 416 Ruger just to have one. But that could lead to bad things like lots of wildcats. 6.5-375 Ruger or 35-375 Ruger. Oh no! I'm having bad thoughts again!

I don't think you could ask much more from a factory 375 than to put them in a neat little triangle at good velocity. That ought to handle just about anything on the planet, I suspect. Nice work, and nice shooting!

This should mean that a fine grizzly will be taken this spring. Great group, Gerry. I'd think that anyone would be pleased with that. Consequently, it has been my experience that the 375 Ruger is quite easy to load for. I have always been pleased with the accuracy from that cartridge.

Thanks guys it's nice when a load comes together so quickly hopefully it can be repeated. This is the most dependable gun I own right now much better than my custom guns costing 2-3 times more Ruger did well with their 375's. Woodycreek, over at 24hrcampfire there has been some reports of feeding problem with the 416 Ruger, I would highly recommend the 375's though.

Thanks for the heads up. I have looked real hard at the 375 Ruger Alaskan. That 6.5-375 Ruger is one that I could see being built.

It seems the flat nosed DGX bullets are causing the feeding problems in the 416. IIRC Phil Shoemaker had some troubles with the DGX in his 375's as well, you would think that Hornady would change the shape of the bullets if there was a problem. Mine has been very good with the Accubonds, Barnes X and TSX and the 235 gr Speer's. I'm pretty impressed with the perfomance of the Accubonds and Big Game powder that's for sure.

Keep us posted on the RL-17 in the H&H. I have been wanting to try it in my 375R, but I'm out of 260 ABs. My big game load is only doing about 1". Hoping for a bit more speed and better accuracy with it.
