Here is the target from the 300gr Speer. It is WW cases, CCIBR2 primers, 59gr's of H4198 and the 300gr Speer. Pretty potent load. Runs about 2300 over the chrono with the Guide Rifle. If your in need of a thumper, this will get your attention, but man, it shoots with the same load with the 300gr BST and the 300gr PT. All three shoot to the same POI with about the same speed.

Don't look too hard at that 7WSM group. I just fired off three quick ones to see if the POI was the same as before I got the triggered adjusted. Scotty

Thanks CC! It is a great load. I encourage anyone that wants a larger caliber to look at the 45-70. I am telling you, I have never had so much fun with any rifle. I take many different rifles to range with me, but it seems the 45-70 ALWAYS go. Just a super rifle and it won't break the bank to set one up nicely either. Scotty

Scotty,

Those little 1895 Guide guns amaze me with their accuracy.
You have yourself a dandy load for sure.

Fotis they are tough nuts for sure. They are labeled as Plinkers on the Speer box. They are supposed to be a Hot Cor or UniCor construction. Makes me really wish Nosler would make a 300-350gr AB is they aren't going to make the PT any further. I think it would be a hit. There is a steadily growing group of 45 cal shooters that would swoon to a properly constructed heavy game bullet. The BST is not it. I don't trust it when/if it encounters heavy bone at above trapdoor level loads. For now, the Speer will work. Scotty

Yes they are tough for sure!.

I might try them in my cowboy.

Wow, looks like to got yourself a great load there along with your Nosler bullets. It would be interesting for you to do a bullets test with those Speer's if you haven't done so already :) Pretty impressed with the accuracy you guys are getting with your Marlins.

Sorry somehow I missed that you did it already  thanks Scotty.

No worries Gerry. They are really a great all around bullet. These Marlins just shoot! I haven't seen one yet that won't cloverleaf holes with decent loads! Scotty

Scotty,

You gotta put a pic of the 300gr Speer after we shot it in the jugs. I was just as impressed with the Speer as I was of the 300gr Partitions.

Great group, Scotty. That load will do for about anything in North America.
