Anyone have any experience with the new Nosler 45 cal 230 gr JHP running in a 1911.

Did the tech guys make this bullet to perform at the velocities of a 45 ACP?

I can tell you a lot of thought goes into the design of every bullet at Nosler!

The 230 JHP is traditionally a 45 ACP weight. I am willing to bet anything that it will work wonders in a 1911. Now if it were a 250 JHP then yes it is a 45 LC 454 bullet.

The 250 grain bullet is .451" diameter, .45 Colt and .45 ACP have the same nominal diameter.

Yes its very good in the .45 ACP, and quite sturdy.

Fotis,
I don't dispute Nosler's quality of products. They all seem to work great and anytime they made something and it needed improvements, they step right up and adjust. It is very obvious the intention of the bullet being a 230gr was for the 1911 shooters....
having said that it does NOT guarantee anything more than it was intended for sales in the 1911 market. The performance is what I want to know. If Nosler made a 230 gr bullet for the sake of having a JHP bullet for that particular market segment so be it. It wouldn't be the first time such a thing has happened in all walks of business.

I am just concerned on this bullet performing in the 800-900 fps range from a defense point of view. Feeding and accuracy are not a concern whatsoever as my 1911 eats anything and will make one snuff can sized ragged hole off hand with two mags of ammo.

I just wanted to see if anyone has any first hand experience shooting these into a wet pack or any other type of defense simulation.

Perhaps someone who tried it at 1911 velocities might chime in.
