6.5-300Wby

Man, that will be a monster of a hunting cartridge. I'd bet it'd be really slick in one of the ULW's...

Ok guys 'splain me why it is that you are so excited for this number but doing a historical search the 26 Nosler didn't get you all riled up? granted I am a little biased since I have a 26 but as you read in my earlier post i'm just not seeing how this could be better? Is it because its a W'by? Rifle Cost($2000-2700) Ammunition Cost(95, not to say the 26 at 65 is any better). belted case and radius shoulder, case capacity same or slightly more than the 26, magnum length action needed? I love 6.5's love that another is being done commercially, and definitely not knocking Weatherby at all, but what is the pull here.

I beg to differ....
I got excited about the 26 and still am. Have a barrel being chambered as we speak. I am also quite frankly very interested in the 28 and maybe the 338 version of the same cartridge, so count me in on the 26.
OK, kidding aside.
Perhaps it's just my weird way of viewing things, but all things Weatherby have a certain cachet. Raw speed and performance. Edge of the envelope, shiny rifles (originally anyway) and so on. Another key point is they have delivered what they promised. Some small glitches here and there and a few divergences from normal but all in all, delivered and done so very well.
A 6.5 Weatherby? Wow. A logical addition owing to the surge in 6.5s and their general acceptance by the general public in a bigger way than has happened in the past.
To me, Nosler Partitions and Weatherby rifles are similar in that they pretty much always deliver what they promise.

Not passionate about the 6.5Wby just picking on Fotis cause I know he can take it. If I could afford a 28 Nosler I wouldn't have bought a used 7mm Rem Mag and I sure can't afford a 6.5Wby.
