WoW took awhile to get back on this site ( formerly yoda here) anyways I have a question.
Has anyone here heard of and know anything about reloading for a 6.5 Lancer ? Here is what I know about the gun:
Built by the lady’s dad I’m dateing in the 60’s. The action came from Herters ( I think it’s a BSA Mauser but don’t hold me to that, dosent look like any Mauser action I’ve ever seen).
Case is based on a full length 30-06 case with most of the taper blown out, sharp shoulder, short neck. It has Penderson & Son name stamped on the barrel.

Never heard of it but sounds similar to a 6.5/280 AI and should be a screamer of a round.
Can you post some pictures of the gun (sounds interesting) and a round next to a 270 or 30-06 for reference?

No idea on a twist rate. I know he use to go out west to hunt elk with it, and it does look like there is a box of hand loads with 160gr bullets in them. I can find absolutely no info on the cartridge

Here’s a picture of that 6.5 Lancer next to a factory 25-06 thats loaded with a 117 hornday. The twist on the barrel ( the best I can tell) is 10.25. Sorry about the delay in getting this posted.

Looks to me straight like a 6.5-06 AI. Shoulder's 'round the same height as the 25-06's.

not a Gibbs! looks close to a 6.5/06 AI
6.5 Gibbs beside a 270
