I guess being a handloader, factory ammo never really bothers me, coming or going. It is nice to be able to buy factory stuff, but I think I have bought 1 box in the last 10 years. Scotty

Same here Scotty. That said thank God one can not reload 17 HMR or 22 LR. With my kids it would be a full time job.

Good point!

I am going to order some of the 140PT's, I allready have loads for the 125PT & 130 Acc.
If I get good accuracy, I will run with the 140PT for extra insurance. As is normal with the Swedish Mauser's, the throat is Veeery long for those 156 European needles. I am not sure which brass I will buy, but leaning toward Lapua for this round, but Norma is a possible too.
Most of our 6.5x55 brass has been used for many rounds, I don't want to risk a problem in the field.I have some H4831 on hand, H1000 & will get some H4350. I would think H1000 would be the last trial, as it seems a wee slow for this round, but I want to stay with temp stable (to a degree at least) powder.
Right now we have 100degree temps with high humidity & this will be a Dec. hunt.

I will also be testing my Number 1 264Mag at the same time & have some Retumbo for that.

I will inform of the results later.

Looks like this winter will bea 6.5cal. hunting season for both of us!

Either the 125pt or 130ab would work fine on cow elk.
The 130AB out of our .260 is our late season cow elk pill of choice - They work great.

Congrats on the tag and good luck !
