I’ve been looking for a new 44 to replace my 329 NG for the last few months. Having ammo but no gun has always been hard for me to handle.

When I stumbled across this performance center 629-6 at a decent price I couldn’t pass it up.

I have a set of VZ round to square but conversion grips on the way. That factory wood grip is pretty but feels like holding an axe by the blade. I can’t imagine how it would feel with stout

Very nice looking pistol.
I have always like the M29 but it doesn't like me.
For me full house .44 mag loads would be a last resort in it since my hand and the M29 grip don't fit very well.
I have had multiple M29s and have yet to find one that didn't beat my hand up and spent a small fortune in grips including custom hand made grips.

Nice! You'll love the VZs...John VZ is a good friend of mine, and he makes awesome grips.

The on mine look nice but something a little bigger would be better.

Quickly found a sharp edge on the grip. Surprisingly it wasn’t as bad as I feared it would be. A little sanding really helped but the blood had already been drawn!

It shot amazingly well with both full patch 44 mag and specials. The excellent trigger really made double action shooting nice.

It was noticeable how much less this 629 recoiled compared to my 329 NG. While quite a bit heavier it it’s the terrible to carry and is much easier to shoot.

These VZ round to square butt grips are excellent. I really like the way they fit in my hand.

Very nice! Is it easier to control the recoil?

I imagine the fireball will be quite impressive with the short barrel
;-)

The grips allow you to get a very solid grip on the pistol. It very much helps with controlling the gun shot to shot. The only detractor is that the grip is very rough Textured after a dozen rounds of so it’s pretty hard on your hands. It will never slip out of your hands though!
