A buddy of mine just picked up a 7mm PRC and asked me for some loading help.
Going with the Nosler 175 gr ABLR in Hornady brass. For powder, he has IMR4831SC and H1000. I'm thinking Retumbo would also work well
Anyone have any loads they can share?
Thanks in advance.

Not a Nosler but in my Mossberg cheapie

Thanks fellas.
My buddy brought his new rifle over yesterday. It's a Marlin just like Foris'.
Mounted a Leupold VX1 3-9x40mm and got it on paper at 50 yards and a quick zero at 100 yds.
Randy went to the 250 gong and hit it a few times. He let me shoot it and I hit the 250 and 200 yard gongs. We were using the Hornady 175 gr ELD-X factory loading.
I have to tell you, that Marlin wants to shoot and the 7mm PRC is a pretty impressive round.

I believe Randy's is the same. It's cero coated and a green camo stock. Pretty light weight little rig.
He's going to mount a different scope on it in the near future. Just wanted to give it a test drive.
I'm hoping he tries it out on a doe or two this September.

Yes...Mine WAS the same. I had a little fun with the Krylon though! LOL

I worked up:
  • 175 grain Hornady ELD-X
  • 80.5 grains of Ramshot LRT
  • Federal 215 primers
  • Hornady cases
  • 2929 fps
It shot very well, into the .4's and .5's at 100 with tight groups and easy hits on steel at longer ranges as well. That was from a 22" barrel.

That will work nicely.

I have got to try some Staball HD and RS Magnum in mine. I have a bunch of those.

Dang Guy, that’s really impressive velocity from a 22” barrel. LRT has performed very nicely in my 7mm RM’s

Thanks. The rifle was built a little short, to accommodate a suppressor. It's a Bartlein barrel. I was doubtful of the 22" barrel and a magnum type 7mm, but it's working well.

An over barrel suppressor would be nice at that length. 4” of barrel goes into the suppressor and the other 4” of suppressor extends barrel length.

The 7 PRC is a nice little cartridge. Looks like it’s starting to climb in popularity. Be nice to see some Model 70’s in 7 PRC.

My buddy has decided to use the Barnes 140 TTSX.
Anyone running lighter weight bullets in their 7 PRC?
Thanks for your help!

I was going to, but never got around to doing so. The 140's have shot well from my 7mm Rem Mag rifles over the years.

Also - saw a guy clobber a grizzly in the Brooks Range with a single 140 gr TTSX from his 7mm Rem Mag. One shot, a short death run, and done. The all copper bullets like the TTSX, Hornady CX and Nosler E-Tip do real well.

Thanks Guy. I've only used the 375 250 TTSX on game, 2 crop damage deer at 160 yards each. Results were impressive. Going to try the 308 130 TTSX in the 308 Win this year. The TTSX is an impressive bullet and readily available.
I would think the 140 TTSX at 3200ish should do the job.

Shoot yeah. I use the 145 LRX in my 7 Rem. 3200 flat and shoots pretty well out to 500.

Should be nearly the same in the PRC. SHould be able to hang them out a good ways.

Any particular powders to look at for the PRC?
I'm thinking IMR4831 and MagPro would be a couple of good ones.
