7 PRC Loads

I would think for light 140’ish stuff 4831’s, 4350’s, etc would rule the roost. RL16, 17, 22, 26, etc. Ramshot Hunter and all similar stuff should work great. It’s honestly not enough different from the REM Mag to matter so if you see it listed for the REM Mag it’ll work in the PRC.

We are on the same page.
Thanks Buddy.

Any particular powders to look at for the PRC?
I'm thinking IMR4831 and MagPro would be a couple of good ones.

I’m just starting load development for my Seekins 7mm PRC with a 26” barrel. Here are some initial results at 100 yds. with Viht N560 and 175 gr. Hornady ELD-X bullets. The fourth group isn’t pictured but the results were: 65.3 gr. N560, 2,967 fps, 1.18” group, ES 5, and SD 2.3. This was the first loading of the ADG brass and my first rounds for the Seekins. The COAL was the Hornady book recommendation. (Looking forward to some seating depth work.) It appears I have another grain or two upside potential with the N560. I also did some initial work with Re 26, IMR 7828ssc, and Viht N565. The Re 26 and N565 may require additional study. I think this rifle will be fun to shoot and it definitely had a preference for N560 “on this initial outing”.

Looking good Gun Nut.
A little fussing with the seating depth and you will be golden.

I’m going to try some 150BD2’s today myself.
May start off with H4831 and R23 then go to slower powders.
I think .020 off is where I’ll begin, really never messed with monos much. But I’ve got an 8tw so no issue there.

I haven't played around much yet with mine but recently bought a Browning X Bolt 2 SPR in 7mm PRC. It's the suppressor ready version with 20" barrel threaded 5/8x24. I hastily threw together two loads with Hornady brass and Staball HD with the 154gr Interbond and 168gr ABLR for its first range trip and took it to deer camp right after. I was cautious with my initial loads as I couldn't find data for those bullets. Velocity was only 2740-2780 fps but they were starting loads. Both shot around 1.25" and I shot a doe with the 154gr Interbond and it did great. I will do more serious load work and I know I can get a good bit more velocity even with the 20" barrel. I may try 4831 for the lighter 154gr bullet and also have LRT and N565. I've got some 160gr AccuBond's to play with too. I gotta mount the CB brake and TBAC Ultra 7 to really start having fun. The factory radial brake, while effective, throws crap all over me on every shot.

My favorite powder for the 7mm rem. mag and the .300 win mag up to 180 grain bullets is the old IMR 4350. Of course my rifles made this decision not me. But if I ever got a 7prc then IMR 4350 would be among the first powders I test.

DrMike used to tell me how MagPro was THE powder for the 7mm Rem Mag...wondering how it would fare in the PRC...
Been thinking more about a 7MM PRC to pair with the 6.5...would love to try the 170 gr Terminal Ascent bullet/ammo...perhaps in a LH Fierce Carbon Rogue w/ 24" barrel...

I don’t think it will work well for FPS Might be OK for Accuracy thou . I like FAST & ACCURATE . 👍😀 RJ
