70 grain .224 RDF

Folks,
I purchased an 8 twist .22-250 Tikka Lite , mounted a VX 5HD 3x15 on top and now the search begins!
My intentions are daytime coyotes. I've got some of the RDF bullets and was wondering if anyone has used them on yotes??
Also have a bunch of 55 grain BT and Varmagddons ,, but I'd like to find a good 70 or so (less than 80 grain) bullet.

I have the exact same rifle and love it! I have worked up a good load with the 70g RDF's over CFE223 that average about 3250 fps, but I have only shot paper. We have to use lead-free bullets here, so I'm using 63g Hammers for coyotes and 50g BTLF for ground squirrels, both have the same point of impact at 100 yards. I've shot several coyotes with the Hammers that average just over 3600 fps and all were bang flop except one and that was my fault. The 50g BTLF will shoot 5 rounds into the same hole at 100y and they averaged just under 3700 fps with a SD of 9.

The 77 Tipped Match King from Sierra is a wicked bullet. Your rifle will also do well with the 75 ELDs.

Never used an RDF on anything so no experience there. The 77 TMK is a beast though.

If it's a 1:14t, you will have issues stabilizing most 70 gr bullets.
I've got a 22 Nosler with a 8t and have shot the 77 gr RDF on targets and steel out to 400 yards. For coyotes, bobcat and woodchucks, I use the 70 gr AB. It works well so long as you stay off the big bones.

Thanks Allen. The 8t is where it's at in the 22 cals.
FWIW, I bought a bunch of 70 gr AB seconds for the 22 Nosler so it's all I run in it. They splatter woodchucks and leave a nickel sized exit on coyotes and cats.

Loaded 3 brands of powder, -Varget - N140 and Accurate 4064, all under a Nosler 70 grain RDF. There's a VX 5HD 3x15x44 on top, mounts, rail all Leupold "Back Country".
Not a nice day drizzle off / on and a little wind.
Shot at only 50 yards benched ----would you believe they all went into a jagged hole!
5 of the 4064,- 5 N140 and 3 Varget. I never had a rifle do that before, I'm 75 and shot my first single shot .22lr at 5 years old.

Nosler’s RDFs are a fine bullet. I stuffed a 1000 of the 140s down my 6.5 Creed.

I've got 7 of the Varget rounds loaded for the story at 100 yards benched.

Gentleman,
Went to the range today set up my target and realized I left
the little allen wrench Leupold gives you to remove the elevation adjustment cap at home!!!
Back to home, back to range, -I hate doing double work-it advertises my stupidity!
Only had 7 rounds left-1st shot was 2.5 high -shot 3 more times & got it 1/2" high- all this at 50 yards.
Moved back to 100 and I was 1.5' high and a little right. Dropped down 4 clicks and 4 left. POI is on the edge of the bull, but I have to come right 2 clicks.
Out of Ammo!!!!!!! I'm pleased with both the rifle and scope. This rifle was 900 and a week after I bought it, I saw them (I don't know what twist-I wanted an 8) for 879 plus another 75 off in a rebate =$804.00. I paid after the rebate 844 out the door. That's cheap for an accurate hunting rifle. Plastic stock stainless
