7mm-08, 180/195 Berger, QL request

Considering testing some real heavies in my 1-8 twisted 7-08. Could someone please help me with Quickload? I am using Lapua brass and have a 26" barrel.

Load 1: 180 Berger Hybrid, COAL 2.95"
Load 2: 195 Berger EOL, COAL 3.05"

Powders I have are Viht N550 and N560.

Why do you want to use such heavy bullets in the 7-08? Just curious.

I just don't think the 7-08 has the case capacity to run these heavy bullets . I played with my 708 and 168 bergers . I just couldn't get enough velocity to keep me interested . it was accurate but slow . I used RL17 when I tried to run the 168 VLD's . I went to the 140 hunting VLD's with RL17 powder . there are powders that will give more velocity than the two VV powders you are thinking of using . I'd also check Bergers stability calculator to be sure these are stable at these velocities .

Thanks a lot for the data and tips guys! As for why, pretty much the same reason FTR shooters are often shooting 200-215 gr bullet from 308s. Slow high BC bullets equals lower wind drift at 1000+ yards. At least that's the theory behind it. I will test this to find out for myself, what works for me and not. I am very humble to the fact that it may not work as well, but experimenting can be fun too :) regarding twist rate, I have an 8 twist so Berger's twist calc says I'm fine.
 
The heavies still drift less in the wind at longer ranges. After a certain yardage the higher BC bullet overtakes the faster low BC bullet and has a shorter TOF too. Play with JBM.

TOF is not equal to wind drift.
 
I forget what speed I was getting with my 168's , but I was trying to turn it into something it wasn't . I think I did run my info through JBM for the 168's and the 140's , if I remember right my 168 load never did catch up . my 168 load was shooting good though . if you decide to do this let us know how it works out . here is a 400 yard target . I wrote the velocity and load on it . 41.5 gr of RL17 with a .050 jump . I shot 3 shots but I couldn't see them on target , so I walked out to see if I was hitting . I'm not sure if I choked or conditions changed or what , but I couldn't put the last 2 with the other 3 .


 
The only 7-08 I've worked with easily did 2700+ with 162's in a 22" barrel. I've wondered about the 180's and 195's, too. If the BC on the new Hornady 180 is legit, it and the 195 Berger aren't going to beaten by anything in this case for wind drift.
