7mm Accubonds

I knew there were 140 and 160 Nosler Accubonds for the 7mm caliber, but was surprised there's also 150gr! What's the thought behind having the 3? I've seen the 140 recommended alot for the 7mm-08 for elk but they all look good.

150's in the 280; and
160's in the 7MM STW.
Balances out the performance spectrum!

I think the 7mm 150 gr AB offers the perfect blend of speed, trajectory and penetration for hunting regardless of the cartridge.
It would cover anything you would hunt with the 7mm-8.

Thanks guys. JD338 - even in a 20-22" barrel, or would you lean towards the 140 for elk in this case? This is for a youth rifle.

I've used the 140s in the 7-08 for caribou with great results in an 18" and a 20" barrel. I'd use 150s but wouldn't really prefer a 160 unless I had more case capacity than you can squeeze out of a 7-08 case.

I think you would be fine using the 150 gr AB with a carbine length barrel. Shot placement is paramount.

My 20” 7-08 really likes 150gr Eldx and Re17. No doubt the AccuBond would be a winner too.

If I can get them to shoot, I have opted for the 150s in my 7mms. Can’t believe all three weights wouldn’t perform well with the right shot placement.
Scored a bunch of the old 150 Solid Base bullets a while back and will try them if I get the chance.
I’ve been loading 120 grain BTs for the 7mm TCU and 7-30 Waters as I have a bunch.

I would agree, 150 - 160 is pretty optimal in 280 Rem / 7x64 in my view
