any of you boys try to shoot a 120gr BT in the7mm rem mag? If so is it a shooter

I've shot one antelope at about 100 yds with a 120gr solid base loaded with 66grs 4350 to 3,350fps. Actually recovered the bullet that travelled down the spine from the neck and lodged in the pelvic bone. Perfect mushroom.

jiggs,

Just for grins, I loaded up some 120 gr BT's in my 280 AI, which is very similar to 7mm Rem Mag.
At 100 yds, first two shots measured .100" and the third shot opened up the group to .277".
I than shot a bullet into 1 gal milk jugs at 100 yds. The recovered bullet expanded to a mushroom of .540"x.774".
The jacket and core were seperated but found in the same jug of water(#5). Total weight is 69.4 grs (57.8% weight retention) and the jacket alone weighed 51.0 grs (42.5% weight retention). This is actually very good performance for such a light bullet hitting water, which is a tough medium for bullets.
This is a good stout bullet that will hold up to these velocities.
Hope this helps.

Big fan of Reloader,22,19, h100 and IMR4831 .At the moment Im shooting a 160gr Partition with 65gr of IMR4831 fed 215 primers ,get on moose and elk .Shot one black bear and made too damage had a 6 inch hole in the hide recomend 140gr bt for black bears

There are a number of pet recipes posted here in the forums. It seems that the 7mmremmag is not a particularly finnicky cartridge. Like others, I've had good results with 4350, 4831, and RL22.
