7mm Rem Mag or 7mm Wby

Speaking of 7mm mags. I'm cleaning up my old M70 7mm Rem Mag right now for some load work with some 150 grain Sciroccos.

Nice, RL 25? There is a lot to like about the Scirocco......

I hope to use H 4831 sc for mine but also have some Retumbo and some old Hercules RL 22 left. I am toying with the idea of using the 150 gr E Tip instead of the 160 gr AccuBond, the E Tip would be better at close range but the AccuBond would expand better farther out.

I'm starting with RL25 Gerry. Seems like it should work well. Although I have a brand new container of Norma MRP that may not be too bad either. I like the looks of the bullet and the results I've seen from you all with it as well.

You might have just talked me into trying MRP! Ha!

Scotty, you well love that bullet pal  ..It's my go to bullet for my 7mm Rem Mag, scary accurate, and hangs together real well, nice mushroom too.

Looking forward to your results pal :)

MRP is one of the best, I'm sure you will like it. I would love to get my hands on some again. I may give those 150 gr Swifts a go too.......

I think I will like them Lou. I have no reason to try them other than just to try em, but I do like Swift bullets. Once Mike talked me into trying them out, I have found a few that have been very impressive, with the .257 120 A-Frame in the 25-06. It is the first bullet that went 8 jugs in such a small bore and retained just about every grain of weight. Accurate too..

Gerry, MRP looks real good as well. I am thinking anything 3100 or better would be fine. Good BC on the bullet.

It looks like you will be able to move those out pretty quick.

Yeah, the old 70 is getting a good cleaning. I'm taking some leave this week and plan on doing a lot of shooting. Got the 35 Newton tee'ed up with 225 ABs and the old 7mm will be the other rifle.

Wanna try to tweak the 7mm WSM with 168 ABLRs as well.

Hope you let us know how it all works out, we need to get out soon for some more shooting too.

I will Gerry. It has been a few months since ive gotten to shoot. Going to mount up the old M8 4x Leupold on my grandpas 300 Savage and get it zeroed I think. I've got a 2-10 Minox for my sons 243. Wanna get that one mounted as well. I've got some work to do and I'm looking forward to it!

I haven't used my old 7mm Rem Mag in a long time so getting it loaded up and ready to hunt feels like the right thing to do.

The old Leupold is a great match for a 300 Savage, should be a fun project.

Yeah. Wanna get it tuned up in the event it gets a chance to hunt this Fall.

Good for you Scotty, I am looking forward to lots of photos & a range report or 2 in the next couple of weeks .

Blessings,
Dan

I have a couple of boxes of 160 gr Accubonds on order so that's will be the first bullet I will try. Was going to get some 150 gr E Tips but since this will be my long range gun for everything from moose down to deer the AccuBond probably is the better all around choice whether near or far.

I get about 2950 in my 7mm Rem Mag with Sub-MOA accuracy to 300 yards with 160 Partitions. That combination has killed everything which I have ever shot with it, so no reason to change.

I am pretty excited to get some range time too.. It has been awhile since I got behind the long guns..

Going to head down and start putting some rounds together soon.

The barrel made it here this week and looks to be in excellent shape. I'm just deciding whether to send it all off now or wait a couple months.
