Just picked up a Mk V Deluxe in 7mm and looking for some load suggestions. Was thinking of either the PT or AB over IMR7828 or RL22.

Congratulations on your 7mm Wby Mag.
What bullet weight(s) are you going to load.

JD338,

Not sure yet. I have 140gr, 160gr and some 175gr Grand Slams (old style dual core).

Boomer, I would bet RL22 would be pretty good with the 160's and 175's. Not sure on charges though, as I load for the 7WSM and 7RM's. The WBY is similar enough to those though that I think RL22 would be a good one. IMR7828 is never a bad choice for any of the WBY's though. Scotty

Boomer,

congrats on the 7 Wby Mag - it is one fine rifle and cartridge. I have owned, loaded and used one for over 20 years now. I have a lot of load data for 150 gr bullets but in the last few years have shot 160-162 gr Hornadys with pretty good success. My current load is RL 22, 72.0 grs, 162 Hornady SST, 215 M primers , 3050 fps.

Another great load, for 150 gr bullets is as follows: 150 gr Ballistic Tip, 68.5 gr IMR 4350, 215 M primers, 3075 fps.

Good luck and let us know how your load development turns out.

Good luck,

Jimbeaux

Congratulations on getting a 7mm Wby Mag. That is a much overlooked cartridge.

All I shoot in mine is a max load of IMR 7828 and either a 160 Nosler Partition or a 160 Barnes TSX, depending on regulations where I am hunting. (I cannot use lead containing bullets to hunt big game in this part of CA.)

Congrats on the 7 Weatherby! I'd love to be able to buy one in a Vanguard... hint, hint Weatherby!
