I have ordered a few hundred 7mm 140 grain E-Tip from SPS for my Mauser war rifle and I was wondering how these bullets will do to knock out Whitetail Deer with 2500-2600 FPS from 50-200 yards? I've had this gun for awhile and it shoots the 140 grain Silvertips just fine. Any info will help. Thanks

I would think it would be a fine bullet. In fact, that primes the pump for me with my own 7X57.

I have a Ruger#1 20" barrel in 7X57. My current load is 140gr ETip at 3.11"oal, 47.0gr's of Vhitavuori N550 and I'm getting 2700fps+. Quickload indicates this is 51,555psi.

2500fps MV at std. sea level gives the 140gr ETip 2157fps and 1446ft-lbs of energy at 200yds and 1843fps and 1055ft-lbs of energy at 400yds.

Hope this helps. Good Luck

Thanks ya'll this will help me a lot especially the load data. Ya'll have a happy Thanksgiving.

I am not sure how 55500 PSI relates to 46000 CUP in the pressure realm. If your rifle is a small ring Mauser like the 93 or 95 model which were military rifles you need to keep your loads mild and under 46000 CUP. For deer the old Hornady 154 gr interlock SP bullet with 45 gr IMR 4350 is a deer killer in these old rifles. I built a nice sporting rifle for a friend of mine out of a 95 Mauser that a Bubba had been hacking on. It is a shooter and killer with the above load.

Man, that 140 ET does look pretty good in the 7x57.. RL17 works very well in my son's 7x57 with 140 and 150's. Great speeds and accuracy has been very good as well..

One my favorite all time rounds!
I used to have an old 98 Brazilian Mauser with a 29" bbl that would shoot like a dream!
I loaded my 7mm Mauser rounds to the 95 Mauser pressure levels, and I never felt I needed more oomph out of the ol war horse.
My loads were with 140 gr. Bullets going around 2600-2700 fps.
I used that rifle to target shoot, coyote hunt, and deer hunt.
Never had a problem taking game.
Get to know the trajectory of your loads, and it will do what you want.
