I just acquired a M700 in this caliber, and was thinking of trying the 200gr AccuBond. Any powder and load suggestions?

..............Slower burning powders for sure with this one.

For an accuracy load, my Sierra manual suggests; 83.6 gr. IMR7828 @ 3000 fps. Their test bullet was the 200 gr. HPBT Matchking, COL 3.600"

Test rifle: Rem M/700 24" barrel.

Of the various powders listed, IMR 7828 is listed as the selected accuracy load.

Thats a great Elk rifle I know a guy that has one he uses the 200 pt but I can't remember the load but RL 22 and maybe IMR 4831 look good.

Nosler lists 80.5 grains of RL 22 for 2,950 FPS and 74.0 grains of IMR 4831 for 2,910 FPS.

I hunt with a guy who owns two 8mm Magnums and they put the hurt on elk...standard one shot kills. You picked up a great caliber!

I think they are, but H1000 is listed on Hodgdon's reloading center.

I shoot 200 gr TSX over 81 grains H4831sc for 3000 fps avg in my 24" 700 Remington. 250 grain Woodleigh weldcores over 80 grains RL25 does 2750 fps. Ive pushed the 250s to almost 2900 fps with no overpressure signs...but back off because recoil gets pretty wild! :shock:
