will a200gn 8mm Partition open at 2000fps impact velocity on smallish deer? I friend uses an 8x57 and shoots them at around 2400mv for pigs and would like to use them on deer also. Max range is about 150yds. capt david

According to Nosler, they will open at 1800fps. I have heard folks who have tried them say that they didn't open well on white-tails. Nosler recommended I use the 180gr Ballistic Tip on deer from my 8x57.

The 200 gr PT will open up on WT Deer, you just need to keep the
impact velocity above 1800fps.
The 180 gr BT would be an awesome killer for WT deer. :wink:

As a side note, I have shot a dozen + WT deer with the 225 gr PT
from my 35 Whelen. Always got an exit wound about the size of a
quarter.

I can confidently confirm that the Partitions will reliably expand at impact velocities of 1800fps to 3200fps. 8)
