9.3x57 load data needed

i just picked up a 9.3x57 husky mauser. i have on order a set of hornady dies. now i need load data. i have been told to use medium burn rate powder for this such as 3031 or 4895. varget is my favorite rifle powder and i would like to use it if possible. anyone here have any suggestions?

any suggestions? thoughts? comments? unless is get some other suggestions, i will try loading up with varget using data extrapolated from a combination of 8x57, 9.3x62, 358, 35 whelen, etc.

Horndoctor, welcome to the crew... of folks that load for the 9.3x57. :grin:

3031, H322 and others are good for starters w/ 8x57 Rem brass.

Take a look at gunboards.com forum in the swedish sporting arms section.
Lots of reloading help here.

A bunch of guys really enjoy the old workhorse including myself.

Norma has some load data on their web site for the 9.3x57 but only Norma powders are listed. Still, it's a starting point. Also, it will give some idea of what velocities are possible with the cartridge. http://www.norma.cc/sida/eng/index.html

Note that Norma 203-B is very similar to Reloader 15.

Dear hornsurgeon

I am reloading 9x57 R with original data from RWS but Nosler TM PT.
Full game success. The OAL is extended to 77.1mm to give space for 49.0 grs R903, Dynamit Nobel. Bullet is Nosler TM PT 225 grs .357".

The Dynamit Nobel data for 9.3x57 is also with me, Case Norma, pirimer RWS 5341 (LR) the 258 grs HMK bullet needs 47.0 grs R903 for 615 m/s up to 49.0 grs R903 for 650 m/s (2132 fps), an OAL of 78.0 mm.
Bullet Brennecke TUG 19 g = 293.2 grs takes 45 grs R903 for 570 m/s and 47.0 grs R903 for 610 m/s (2001 fps) with OAL of 77.6 mm.
Brennecke TIG and TUG loads mostly work similar with Nosler TM PT as I expeienced in 6.5mm, 7mm and 9mm.
As 9.3x57 is mostly used only in Scandinavia, perhaps from there you might get more data.
