Thought I'd share the new Winchesters that have come to live with me. I'm working up measurements and then loads this afternoon for a range session as soon as I can arrange it.

I bought a 7X57 last summer, but I didn't have time to scope it until this past weekend. I put a 3-9X42 Kahles on this rifle. I'm working up some loads to launch 140 grain AccuBonds and 140 grain Ballistic Tips first.

I brought my .284 Winchester home this weekend as well. It received a Leupold VX6 3-18X44 with CDS dials and an illuminated B&C reticle. It has a 24 inch Hart barrel, is pillar bedded and the action was blue-printed. The fellows at Rocky Mountain Rifles did a great job. Now, to get some loads moving down the tube. My first effort is a couple of tests with 150 grain E-Tips. I'll likely work up some 150 grain ABLR shortly.

One of these, or perhaps both of them, will likely accompany me for black bear this coming spring. I'm always pleased to have something new to work up.

Darn nice brace of rifles! looking forward to the range report.
Good shooting!

Looking good Mike. Now all you have to do is shovel the snow away from the door so you can get out the house.
Really nice looking Winnies.

I can't see the pics right now Dr. I think there is something going on with Noslers site. Either way I bet they are both gorgeous and I can't wait to see how they shoot!!

Pat,

There is a problem with Nosler's site, to be certain. It is slow and hanging occasionally. The pictures were not as sharp as I wanted. I have just brought my camera in from my hunting kit (packed in the back of my truck), so the lens is somewhat fogged. Also, the battery was almost dead. Still, they are gorgeous to me.

It looks very sleek. I like the stainless steel and wood combo a bunch. Almost itches me for another toy, even though I am pretty set with my 7mm08...for now ;)

I've owned several of the push feed Winchesters, and each shot quite well. I didn't hesitate when this came available as a donor.

Sweet!

I hope you've laid in a good supply of 7mm bullets!

Oh, yeah. I have a few thousand in hand.

DrMike, those are fine looking Winchester's which are hard to find today. I personally, have never seen a stainless .284 Model 70. Pictures aren't too great but I am curious how they shoot now?

Charlie,

I finished loading a series of tests loads for either rifle. Hopefully, I'll be able to get out to the range this week and pull the triggers of these rifles (and the .30-06, the .280 and the .280 Ross). I'm combating distraction as I desperately want to be deer hunting while we have the cooler weather. However, I have to make a range trip regardless as I have a 338 Lapua for a gentleman that needs to be finished. I am sorry for the pictures, I'll get some cleaner pics up when I go to the range.

No problem with the pictures, I know that you will take better ones later. I understand the distraction when the the season is on and you have to be doing work for someone else instead of hunting while you have the best chance. Update us later on the two new (for you) Model 70's after hunting season when you have more leisure time.

Nice Mike so that's 6-7mm in your stable?

Yeah, give or take one. What can I say? I like the sevens.
