Today was a beautiful day in my area of SC. Highs were in the mid 70's with just a slight breeze. I finally got my 308 die set and put together a couple loads to try Friday evening. I also bought a box of the new Nosler 165gr Solid Base bullets. I put together 15 rounds powered by IMR-4895 and 15 rounds powered by Varget. Both were set in motion with a Win. Large rifle primer. If I would have been a betting man I would have put money on the Varget, however, I was really disappointed with the accuracy, of course I will revisit that load and try again.
Where things really got interesting was with the IMR-4895. I loaded 43 grs and seated the bullet as long as I could and still function through the magazine, which was 2.810. Below is a group of the above load. As you can see, there's one shot where I "heed" when I should have "hawed". LOL....... Regardless of that one shot, which is really not that bad, things worked today.
