accubond vs. ballistic sivertip

You will surely get a lot of replies on this with more detail but basically they are ballistic twins in almost every case. The ballistic tip has a different, non bonded core and will expand faster and not hold together for deep penetration at very high velocities. It is best for thin skinned game like deer and antelope. It is well respected as a great hunting bullet if you don't push it too fast when hunting a tough animal. The AccuBond takes it one step further in that in being bonded you get the penetration as it slowly sheds some weight yet holds together at higher velocities. I have driven accubonds at 3100 fps. into an elk at 30 yds. and it penetrated and expanded to shred the heart/lungs with an exit wound of about an inch. The ballistic tip would have come apart much more violently and probably not penetrated thrue. They are both very accurate and have high ballistic co-efficients.

Corbin,

Greg did an awesome job of explaining. In short the silver-tip is a coated B-tip. Ballistics I believe are pretty much the same ( check to make sure ) from either bullet. I have one gun I can interchange from the b-tip to a-bonds and it shoots in the same place. The next rifle I can't do that.... about three inches difference.

Greg is correct. It will also depend on that caliber you're shooting, bullet weight and the intended game.
