Accuracy but no speed?

I would push them DT. I would almost bet they'll tighten as you come up to pressure.

DT

I agree with the others, work up slowly and see what you get.

Hopefully these will work. This is from the first set of test loads I shot out of this Tikka.

DT. looks like your making serious progress buddy. It seems like its coming together as your moving up the charge. Any idea on speeds?

150 Btips are only runnin about 2600, and 130 ABs are about 2850.

One other question guys. I started getting flattening of primers with some of these loads. I didnt worry about it since speeds were slow and I wasnt getting marks on brass or sticky bolt. Should I still bump up the charge?

Flattened primers by themselves are not a dependable guide for pressure. That can result for several other causes. I'd be inclined to carefully work up to see if accuracy (and velocity) improves.

my custom Mauser with 2" barrel.

What sort of pressure are you generating to get 100 fps more than a load shot from a 22" barrel?

Okay, I'm sorry, Paul. I just couldn't resist; that looked so funny. Yeah, I have one of those keyboards that doesn't always transfer my thoughts to the electronic post.

That's because I type with two blind fingers and a keyboard that doesn't always put the letter/number in. It should have read 23" barrel. I don't always catch the boo boo's. I fixed it in the original post.

the hornady #8 manual shows 62gr as max with a 130sst and H4831sc. you have some room to grow. my 22" 270 win is shooting .4" at 3009fps with 61.3gr of H4831sc and the 130bt. I know the cartridge is capable of a lot more as my rifle shoots factory loads at 3167fps.

Could not agree more with Mike.

I had a Tikka in 30-06 that shot slow, compared to other 22inch barreled 06's. My opinion is they are just a slow barrel.

I think you need to remember the manual's data is produced under very specific lab. conditions. To achieve data spec. velocities, you'd have to duplicate 'Exactly' their test parameters. This is not normally possible, so you just have to work to your own chrono'd test data.
As others have said, trying different propellants may yield better velocity results....you just have to play around a little to find what gives what you want.

I loaded up some more test loads at 59.5, 60.0, 60.5, and 61.0. 59.5 and 61.0 shot horrible but the other two were pretty decent, and I was getting speeds of ~2950fps and I don't get any stiff bolt or anything and the primers didn't look any different than the other loads. Thanks for the advice guys! I really appreciate it!

Glad things are getting a little faster for you. With ww-brass and cci-200 primers and the 130 AB I got a 2956 and a 2955. Looks like we are getting close to the same results with same components and barrel length. You can usually gain a little more speed with heavier Remmy brass.

DT,

It would seem you are moving closer to your goal of accuracy coupled with velocity. You can always play with seating depth to tweak accuracy goals.

I think your close DT. like Mike said a little seating depth changes could have you home.

With the 60gr load two were in the same hole and I know I pulled one out. 60.5 had two in the same hole also. So I loaded up more of those to see what they look like when I really concentrate on my trigger pull a d breathing
