Living on the edge now, I upped my 150 Partition load to 52.0 grains of IMR 4350. No issues with this load in my rifle so I think there may be room to go.

I shot the target below. The first shot was perfect and the other two were touching the 1" circle as well. #4 went a bit high. As some others stated, this may be a bedding issue or I may have to up the load a bit.
Another thing to note is this is new brass that wasn't sized to this rifle before loading so on the second go round I'll try to neck size these.

Still willing to try this on a deer if I get a chance this year.

Looking good on the grouping Alderman. You are getting closer to a hot load now but still can go up carefully to 53.0, or switch to 4831 or 7828?

Perhaps you do feel as if you are tickling the dragon's tail. However, watch for pressure signs. You could have quite a bit of room for upping pressure, which could readily improve accuracy.

From everything I see with this load I'm not seeing excessive pressure. Probably after the hunting seasons before I get to play with it some more but it's on the to do list.

You are shooting this with your scope set on 9X right? If so, that is probably a portion of your problem right there. I am shooting with 10X and I learned years ago that is not enough magnification if you truly want to test how your rifle and it's loads are grouping.
It's tough to see the relationship between your crosshair center and the aiming point on the target. All it takes is a heartbeat and a trigger squeeze to send one off target.
I think that last group is looking good. Even with the flyer.

I only have one deer or elk rifle which has a 3-9x36 scope on it (.338 Federal). All of my other rifle scopes have been upgraded to 3.5-10x44, 4-12x50 or 3-15x42. This upgrade was not done or needed for big game hunting but just for aging eyes at the range to help me shot the smallest group sizes. Actually, a 3-9x40 is plenty of scope magnification for deer hunting but I wanted to be able to see bullet holes at 200 yards in paper targets.

Nice! You have been posting up some really good stuff. I think the 280 and imr4350 were made for each other.

Very nice. The 280 Rem is a real sleeper of a cartridge and when loaded to 270 Win specs really comes alive. Great shooting. No buck is going to slip through accuracy like that.
