Adjusting New X-Mark....

Has anyone had any experience adjusting the new Remington X-mark trigger? Is it done the same as the old assemblies? I see they are now allen screws that look to be somewhat on the frail looking side...?

nope same deal as the older ones. Just unscrew until you're happy....and safe.

I had a hard time with one of mine. The set screw stripped out very easily and wouldn't move for #@$%.
As I was ploping down a c-note for a Timney the guy at the gun shop told me to drill out the set screws, tap the hole and install a new screw and lock nut. Kind of like the Timney.
The other rifle I have with an X-mark adjusted fine.
The set screws seem to take a odd size wrench. I tried all of my standard and metric wrenches and they all seemed to be a little sloppy.

I'll preface this with saying I hold both ASE & A&P certs. I have a fairly healthy supply of tooling to do this.

This was a &$*&%()&_*^&$^#^$ of a J. O. B. !!!
Didn't have issues with stripping the screws, but rather breaking two Snap-On allen wrenches. Still not what I'd like to have......
I have two Canjar triggers that I really like ( Company is now out of business ) Recommendations on another trigger? I hear good about Timney but have never pulled one ??

The timney triggers are pretty good I'v had no problems with them you should give them a try.

I just bought a new Remington 700XCR with the new X Mark Pro trigger. I have not tried to adjust it yet. I like to shoot new guns as they come out of the box first just in case I have any warranty issues.

I understand that the X Mark Pro is easily adjusted, I guess I will see. The one I got is very crisp and clean, no slop. It came set at just over 4 pounds. Not bad maybe for a .375 H&H. I get to shoot it for the first time this morning.

The last XCR I bought had the old style trigger and it was the worst Remington trigger I have ever owned. It was VERY inconsistant! Using the Lyman trigger pull guage I could never get the same reading twice. I got mad and bought yet another Jewell trigger. They are expensive, but in my opinion, a Jewell trigger is simply the best! If this new trigger does not work out I probably will just get another Jewell.

If you put that Lyman guage on the Jewell triggers they read the same over and over and over.

Having said that, I know two guys who have purchased Timney's recently and been quite happy with them.
