Gents,
The last couple of mornings there has been a wonderful chill in the air here in Germany. I'm guessing you guys in the Northern parts of the US are probably feeling it too. Usually, about this time, I'd be just about all tuned up for the archery elk opener, but since I'm over here I'll have to live vicariously through your hunting posts for the next two seasons. Go get 'em guys, post plenty of pics, and post all the details!
Take Care,
Joe

Joe, it is going to need to cool down quite a bit here in northern BC before the good, fall chill is sufficient to allow taking game with comfort. It only dropped to 15C last evening, and it is almost 30C now. It got up to 31C yesterday, and it was 34C on Friday. That is quite uncomfortable.

Joe, I live in Southern Saskatchewan which is about 2 hours north of North Dakota. We had a super cool spring & very wet. However since begining of July we have had very hot weather with a couple of real severe thunder storms. Yesterday & today we have had cloudy weather with a little rain but still around 25-30C. Weather not cooling in the evening to much under 15C.
The good think is Elk season does not start until September 15th
I sure hope things are going well in Germany enjoy & be safe!!

Blessings,
Dan

Pretty much the same story here in eastcentral Alberta. I see the local geese are starting to flock up and are hitting fields that have recently been silaged. A few farmers are getting ready to harvest peas but overall August has been hot and dry. I'm sure in another 2-3 weeks fall will be in full swing. The older timers go by the new moon as a guesstimate for the first killing frost of the year, I beleive it's the 3 rd week of sept this year.

August had been hot and dry?
We have but two seasons here, Hot and Hotter. :)
I am in hopes that we have hot soon as this hotter is a dastardly beast to suffer. Here's wishing you Northern mates some cooler weather, Good hunting, and good times.

I could use some cold air. Rain too. I've gotten less than an inch in the last 2 months. I've actually took some electric tape and fenced off most of my yard and barn area so my horses can have something to eat. However withered it might be.
Weather.com shows 100 degrees plus the next 4 or 5 days. That will help things out a lot.
Can't wait for November.

It was 47* up in the hills where I keep my camper on Sunday morning and 49* the morning before. It still got hot in the daytime but it's taking longer to warm up in the mornings. The days are getting shorter and bow season starts in under 2 weeks. I might have to break out the bow, see if I can still hit stuff, and go chase a deer or two since I'm without a elk tag  . On a side note......fish and game is desperate for $$$ so they dropped the non-resident elk tag prices to residents from 416 to 299. Maybe if I wait longer they will drop it to 199 and I'll break down and buy another elk tag  . I don't need the meat but elk hunting can be pretty fun until you have to pack one out (I always get too worked up and forget that part though).

True words, those. It is a disease, I tell you.

What a difference a week makes, we had frost on the pumpkins this morning litterly..
The wife picked a few tomatoes yesterday, but we left some on the vine as the forecast was for a low of +5*C. I should have known better.
Good news is I took yesterday off and the kids helped me start going thru all the waterfowl gear. Defintly a light bite in the air this morn..

Fairly heavy frost on the roofs this past Saturday. Today is warmer. I want to get out a couple of more times this week. I'm hearing lots of reports of people that tagged their moose and I've seen good numbers of elk. Man, I'm ready to go, but work keeps getting in the way.

We have not had frost yet but today when I got up this morning it was only 6C :) but they are talking 27C Wednesday & 28 Thursday.
Sure hope it cools off up north for the regular Elk season.

Blessings,
Dan
