I went out this morning with my Deer Managment Permit (doe) tag and the 450 Marlin. It was cold at 10 degrees F when I got up at 3:30 AM. It was even colder at 5 degrees F when I started getting dressed. I added another syntheic mid layer and headed out for the new stand that Rol_P helped me put up this fall. Thank you Rol_P!

It was a long walk up the hill but it was pretty with the fresh snow. I enjoyed cutting the fresh deer tracks. I found a fresh, large, single deer bed within sight of my stand. I must have put the deer up when I walked in.

My hunt only lasted 20 minutes once I was settled into the stand. A big long doe walked across the big opening to the east and stopped broadside right in the center of the opening. The 450 Marlin spoke. It said, "Dead doe". And the hunt was over.

The deer was to the left and behind the pine tree stump. About 85 yards. Of course, the trailer blind had been moved.

What a fantastic year I have had deer hunting!

Way to go buddy! Which bullet did you run in the 450?

Great results and hunt. Congrats on the hunt!

I ran out of time to reload and used factory loads with the 325 gr. FTX. I will use my reloads with the 300 gr. Speers next year.

Congratulations! I'd imagine that the 325 did a fine job on the whitetail!

How much snow were you hunting in?

A great report, Dan. I'll bet you're in for some fine dining this winter; that doe will be mighty tasty. Congratulations on a fine series of hunts this fall.

Dan,
Congratulations on your great season!

Rol, if the snow is not butt high on a giraffe, how high is it? I take it you are further north from Dan. That looks to be some dump in Buffalo.
