Another Model 94

DrMike put me down as having the sickness as well. I used to collect odd Model 94's in any caliber and factory configuration. I had about 12 of them and would still if I could see the front sight. You have not strayed into that territory yet!

Indeed, to plagiarize McManus, 'tis a fine and pleasant misery.

I am going with just plain old fashioned <<<<SICK>>>> the 71 I can see for BC as they are sooooo popular with folks in Alaska , we had a couple of guides over the years that loved them and that's all they ever carried for everything including backing up hunters on Brown Bears, one dude just used the 1886 in 33 Win and I never knew of him to have any trouble with that either! Although in all fairness , I used to fly in to his camp with supplys and I noticed a good number of ptarmigan always around his camp with their HEADS shot off, so I am pretty sure shot placement was on his side :!:
For gosh sakes someone pm me when Fotis video of he and Alena is showing so I can get out the popcorn and koolaid

A '71 in my hands would suit me just fine. Since I have the '94s chambered in .356, I'm reasonably confident. It is better than a stick in the eye when dropping a grizzly. This is a photo of a grizzly that was on the wrong end of a .356. The first shot broke both shoulders. I recovered only one bullet that had been placed in him to anchor him. It was shot while approaching from the rear. The bullet passed through the hump and along the left leg, coming to rest beneath the left from foot pad. That is a significant distance to travel, but penetration has always been great with this cartridge.

On one occasion, shooting this and a 7mm RM charged with 160 grain Partitions, a 250 grain Power Point penetrated more than 36 inches of wet cardboard, disappearing into the dirt somewhere behind. The Partition penetrated over 24 inches and was recovered.

Wow, seeing is believing man. The 356 gotter did that time. Nice

The cartridge does deliver a pretty good wallop. I've taken moose, elk, grizzly, black bear (up to seven feet) and mule deer with a .356. All these animals have managed to die in timely fashion when I did my part.

That is proof enough for me, DrMike but then I also shoot a .338 Federal. Those heavy and tough medium bullets at those velocities do kill well!

I agree, Charlie. I also tote a .358 Winchester and a .338 Federal. Each has taken bison and moose, which speaks well of the cartridges.

Charlie,

I've used 200 grain E-Trips in my 338 Federal; multiple loads give me sub-MOA. Recently, I've been working with 200 grain ABs; again, multiple loads give me good velocities and sub-MOA accuracy. At the moment, I have the scope pulled as I'm upgrading. The rifle shoots, and it is a proven game taker.

Now, Greg, you're going to make me jealous. Good looking lever gun. Yeah, I'd pick up a Model 94 w/o the cross-bolt safety.
