Any plans for a new rifle in 2025?

I don't have anything I am planning on buying. That said, my eyes (and likely my wallet) will be open for one or more of the following, if I can find the right price:
454 Casull lever gun
45-70 lever gun (maybe)
30-30, but it would have to be an older Winchester 94, it's the only one I really want for that
338-06 (always looking for one of those, if I can afford it)
Annnnnnd.... It turned out to be a Savage in 300 Win Mag. Because of course it did.

Still want one of those 454 lever guns, though :(

Yeah, yeah, yuk it up. It's kind of a funny story. Brother and I are going bear hunting in a couple of weeks and so the Good Idea Fairy landed on me and I messaged him suggesting we both bring the same rifle, int he same chambering, using the same ammo, so if one of our rifles goes down, we can share the remaining one and already have the hold overs and everything else. I was pushing him to go for a 30-06, so I could have mine recut to 338-06 when we got back. He emails me 2 days later and says he got a 300 WM. Now, I'm wonder what I'm going to do with one of those, but I figure my original plan is still sound, so I order one, thinking I might get it redone to -- dunno, 375 H&H maybe? A couple of weeks go by and he messages me his rifle is in, but when he looked at it, it was a 300 WSM. :cautious: So, clever me, I tell him the difference between the two with commercial ammo probably won't make enough difference to matter and I'll trade rifles with him once the hunt is over. I'm thinking it's time for me to get a 35 Sambar! But, no, his reply is that he's ordered another rifle in 300 WM and will keep the 300 WSM. *sigh* So, now I'm back to having a 300 WM that I'm not sure what to do with😣 . So, yeah, that's the short version of the long version.

You could always turn it into a 358 Norma Mag afterwards... 🤔

It gets better. The LGS lost his new rifle after it came in to the store. Took them 2 days to magically find it after he called them. I suspect someone accidentally put it out on display and it took them that long to figure it out. Well, at least he has it. Now to see if we can both get time off from work.

358 Norma would be an interesting option. A bit of a step up from t he Whelen.
