I have to say that it has got to be my all time favorite rifle. In my mind nothing is classier! Although there have been times were I owned 5 or 6 at one time I currently own only one (since I am on a WBY kick....for now).

This is my 458 Lott, yet to be fired.

So whacha got?

Always wanted one, but can never find just the one. Leaning towards the 1-A in .243, wisht they did it in 308 or 7/08... Keep thinking about one in 45/70 or 375H&H, but....

Gonna get one, one day.... If just to look at it and say, "Sexy"...

They are some really sharp rifles. I would like to have one in a 25-06 or something in that class. Even with a 257WBY would be a real barn burner. They look like they are meant to hunt antelope and muleys on the plains! Scotty

POP,
I've got 2 of them. I have a 22-250 and a 280 Rem. The 22-250 shoots one ragged hole all day long. I bought it the day before my son was born and justified it to the wife by telling her it was for him! It was made in 1971 and is like brand new. I just got the 280 a few weeks ago, havn't had a chance to shoot it yet. The 280 is a pretty uncommon caliber in the No.1. I finally found one in IL that a collector had. I have to agree with you... the No. 1 is one of my favorite rifles as well.

7mm Rem mag, the only one I've got now:

In the past I've also had a .25-06 in the Varmint version (man, that thing was ACCURATE!) and a .300 Win mag.

I'd like to get another varminter version, and one of the big bores as well, something like a .45/70, .458 or .375 perhaps. Not sure why... I do like them though. Accurate. Graceful. Easy to hunt with. Classy.

Regards, Guy

Ok I'll post my baby again! 7MM-MAG The only one I have so far.

I love this Gun!

Been meaning to ask. Have you tried the 350 gr. TSXs out yet. They are pretty accurate and make a big hole. I do have to admit I put a Decelerator on it to make it a little more manageable. It's fun to shoot and I'd hate to be the animal on the other end of all that "KABOOM"

I have 2 of them at the moment, Pop. A 25 06 BBZ, with a 6x18 Elite 4000 on it, and a 1B 270 Weatherby magnum, with a 5x15x50 Elite on it. I have sold a 45 70, and a 270 Weatherby in #1's this past year. I have also sold all of my actual weatherby rifles, but, I will take the #1's to the grave with me! That #1 outshot my accumark, fibermark and deluxes hands down.

I did with my blued model last summer. Sold it to a buddy who fell in love with it. I got 2855 fps with H 4198. Shot great too!

Guy how are them 168 Bergers working out in your #1?

I have had 3 total. 2 of them in 7x57, still have one of them. The other was a .30-06. I dearly love them and would not think of never having at least one. I kind of wish I never would have sold the other 7x57, I figure two is always better than one.

So far, so good. Latest load is averaging 2944 fps with a healthy dose of Reloader 22, and solidly under 3" for three shot groups to 300 yards. Have plinked at steel gongs to 465 yards or so w/good success, but haven't shot any groups out that far yet.

I'd like to see if I can tune the rifle & load down into the 1/2 MOA area. That might take some doing though. Haven't done a lot of tinkering with loads, except to try different charges of RL-22. A little more powder sure tightened up the SD & ES figures as well as the downrange groups...

If I try another hunting bullet this year, it will likely be the 160 AccuBond.

Had a balky extractor problem on this 30 year old rifle, but got into the action & cleaned out some gunk, and it seems to be working better now. Might even be fixed!

Later, Guy

Not too bad! Let us know when you're done tuning.

 ahhh my all time favorite rifles, mine are blue/walnut and all have great wood. #1b's 300 win,300bee and another 300win
i really like the b models with the 26'' tube. the most accurate rifle i have is the last 300win i bought in jan. has a vx-2 6-18 with turrets and shoots
165 ballistic tips at 1/2'' all day everyday with 80.4 rl-22 seated at 3.400
all are .75 or under with handloads. i have not done any bedding or other work to any of them.

You guys have some beautiful pieces. My #1 is blue with wood & 35 years ago I bought it as a 7mm Rem. Mag. Never shot any bullet out of it but the 160 NP. Two years ago I rebarrelled to 7mm RUM with a 27 1/2" stainless. I now shoot the 160 AB at 3425 ft./sec. It will shoot under an inch if I don't have a senior moment while shooting, (a.k.a. a brain fart).  I wouldn't trade it for anything.
