Anybody ever use Hawk bullets?

I used them in the .356. They were inconsistent for me in that platform. I'd get excellent accuracy and the next time they would pattern. Kodiaks and Speer FN give me consistent accuracy, so I don't use Hawks there. I also tried them in a 30-06 with the same result. I ordered some for my Ross as this was one of the few suppliers providing this calibre.

They do offer weird/odd bullets

Never tried them Fotis, why are you asking? You have something cool in the works?

Nope. The do make decent spitzers in 416 cal 300 grain. But if they won't work well why try....

Fotis I have not used them yet, but I am in the process of ordering some for my .348. I plan on doing some water jug tests with the 200gr Hornady FP, the 200gr Swift A-frame FP, and the Hawk 200gr FP.

I have a feeling the Swift is gonna whoop some jug butt!

I will post my findings on all three.

Great! I can not wait for the results.

I have used them on game in three cartridges 30-06, 300Win mag, 358Win. They are terminally great and the only problem will be finding accurate loads which are usually found at the lower end of the cartridge's velocities, which is what I don't like and the low BC, but for up close to standard distances 200yds and under, it is an affective killer.

I used the Hawk .358 225gr RT .030" jacket in my 358win. Velocity was 2360fps combared to 2430fps I get with the 225gr PT or GK. I used H4895 and my barrel is 20.5" long.

Accuracy is comparible to both the other 225gr bullets. So far I have only shot deer using the 200gr spire point at 2480 fps and the Hawk. The hawk put the largest hole I have ever seen with a 358cal bullet. Heart/lung no bones quarter size in half daller size out and thats in the hide.

I have also used the Whelen with 200gr CL PSP's and the hawk is super at fast expasion and penitration on deer size game. I think if elk/moose or to be used in a whelen I would go with the .035" jackets.

Hawks has pure copper jackets so I did a thuro cleaning followed with JB bore bright ploishing to ensure there was no copper fouling left in the barrel. From what I hear from barns bullet shooters is gilding jacket fouling and pure copper fouling do work well to gether. I think if Hawk plated their bullets like Calhoon dose they would have a better product with no fouling left behind.

Interesting that the customer can select different jacket thicknesses - tailoring the bullet to their own rifle & game.

Never used them. They were on my list of .458" bullets to try before I sold my 1895 Marlin.

I got with a 225gr AccuBond 2502 to 2550fps and half inch accuracy. With the 225gr Sierra I got 2474fps to 2494fps and also half inch accuracy with one group being one of the most accurate rounds I have ever fired out of an out of the box rifle, but the 225 gr hawk was not there in velocity or accuracy of either of the two bullets mentioned so I choose not to use them anymore in my 358Win. It's terminal effect on game was no greater nor better than the two above mention bullets so I so no need to continue to use them.

Bullet I have 50 cases loaded with the 225gr PT to use this year. Its the listed max charge of H4895 which does 2430fps in my gun I hope to see how they work as compared to the Hawk RT.

I took two bucks in two years with identical heart/lung shots. One with my 35rem and the 200gr CLRN at 2180fps and the Hawk. Both at 70 yards and both ran 30 yards after ther shot. There was no snow but with the hawk while standing where the buck was shot I could see a six foot wide path of blood for 30 yards. I have had easy to see blood trails but none that I could see 30 yards away with out snow in green grass and brown fern. The whelen and the 200gr CL PSP has DRT all 3 bucks I used it on.

The load with the Hawk did .75-1" and I called that fine. I figure with a round nose 250 yards is pushing it and where I hunt white tails 20-100 yards is the norm. They cost as much as a PT, I wanted a fast expanding bullet for WT's so thats why I tried them.

For a 348win and even the 35rem (if no 200gr CLRN are avalible) they are a good option to have.

They work real good in my 3006 and yes on the exspansive blood trail. Very good bullet for standard velocities.

I am not impressed with their CS so far. I emailed them a month ago with questions and nothing yet!

Fotis, I just phoned them they were helpfull and after selecting a bullet they did not have in stock they said it would be 2-3 weeks. Two weeks latter I had 2 boxes of bullets in hand.

Guess I have to call then!

Wonder how those 300 grain spitzers will do at 3140 fps from my 416 bee,

They would kill anything up close or far off, just the up close you would have a bigger hole to eat around.
