Anybody tried Reloader 16 with 308 win?

I want to load either the 130 gr Barnes TTSX, 125 gr AccuBond or 150 gr Ballistic Tip in a 308win. I have some powders on hand to try but I have quite a bit of Reloader 16. Anyone tried R16 in 308?
Alliant only lists data for R15 and R17 in 308win.
Other powders I can try are Varget, IMR 4064, H4895.

I use RL-17 with 200 gr plus bullets in 308. For the bullets you listed RL-16 or RL-17 would be too slow. Varget 4064 4895 is you best bet

Can't answer your question on RL16........like RL338 said, suspect it would be a tad slow for the 308. It's within the 4350 burn rate.

On the rest of it you never know until you try it and I'm sure both Varget and 4064 would work fine (maybe great) but out of those powders I'm thinking with a 130 that H4895 might be your huckleberry. If it was me I'd probably head there and try it first.

ReloadKy, if you end up going with the 150 BT, Varget is widely acclaimed for that bullet weight and it worked well for me right out of the gate. I know JD had excellent results with 4064 and a 150......AccuBond maybe? I forget. Varget and 4064 are real close on burn rate, so with that 150 weight I'd head to your Varget or 4064. With the 125 AccuBond or the 130 barnes you mentioned, if it was me I'd try the faster burning H4895 first with that lighter bullet. Just my thoughts doesn't mean it would end up being right for your rifle.

I would load Reloder 16 with 185gr or heavier bullets. However you will find RL16 to be very bulky and might run out of case capacity in a little 308 Winchester case.

For 130gr or150gr I would load Varget, imr4064, AR comp, Reloder 15, or Benchmark.

4895 both H and IMR have been a standby in the 308 for years. 4064 was and is a good powder for target, match shooters long time. Varget, RL15 are the new kids on the block of the three powders you have. As stated above you'll have to try them out to see which groups best in your rifle. The 308 is not a caliber that is hard to load for and shows great accuracy. Let us know which works best for you. Dan.

That's great. When you get a chance try some 125gr AB they work well on deer. BT also just a bigger hole, lol Dan.

I have a box of 125 gr Accubonds as well as a bag of nosler second 125 gr accubonds. I plan to work up some loads with them.

I’m currently using W748 with the 130 TTSX. It's a case full. Varget will also fill the case full with that bullet to. I’ll be curious to see what you come up with.

I really like using the 130TTSX in my .308 but finding a fast, accurate and non-compressed load was challenging. All of the usual powders for the .308 resulted in compressed loads, which I wanted to avoid. In the end, only Benchmark yielded the results that I was looking for. I am currently getting 2" groups at 400yds with a muzzle velocity of 3,130 fps IIRC. TAC was a close second but the Benchmark was repeatedly a better performer.
