I just last evening got into a very small syndicate with over 200 reds - stags and hinds/followers/calves - virtually FOC no cost, but I don't get to keep the venison.
I do get to hunt/stalk/shoot the deer...but apart from one beast a year, the rest goes for sale to support a pheasant/duck/partridge shoot.

The really great part is, the farmland these deer browse over is just four miles from my house.
Brilliant! How lucky can one get?
Cheers, ATB ET

Elmer, you really fell into it, didn't you? You lucky dog and at least you can keep one a year for the freezer.

Not sure that's luck.

Seems like very careful planning with an excellent outcome!

Congrats on the new hunting situation.

I couldn't believe my luck! Out of the blue a phone call from a good friend telling me he'd given a local farmer my phone number and to expect a call.
Turns out the farmer has a game bird shoot on his land managed by his farm manager. The farm manager needs to raise cash for the game bird shoot and also has the deer roaming and browsing the land. He'd like the deer 'thinning out' & would use the cash from the sale of venison for his shoot.

The deer are wild and present in pretty large numbers on his land year round. They look in good shape, but not having been culled for quite some time - if ever - there are some old girls in there and some stags that most certainly need to be shot.

The stag season opens here in a week on 1st August, continuing until April 30th 2015
Hinds open on 1st November until 30th April.
So, a pretty full on season ahead...not to mention those trips to Scotland in between times.
Just brilliant!... and thanks for your thoughts fellas. Cheers ATB ET

That certainly sounds like a delightful opportunity. Cull hunts surely afford some great game opportunities.

Very nice ET! Sounds like it's time to get the 25-06 oiled up and ready to hunt!

Can't wait to hear about the hunting. Can't beat the drive!

Good for you and that sounds like a great opportunity. Hope you get to keep some of the meat for yourself to enjoy!!

Just need to get some 'meths' down the barrel & remove the oil...appointment coming up on Fri. evg. 1st August....I heard there is a red stag waiting for a 110gn AccuBond! ATB ET
