After the frustration of the 55 grain BT's the other day, I bought some 50 grain Berger match/varmint bullets to try. used the same powders (Varget and IMR4895) with all loads. Primer was CCI-BR2, temp about 45 degrees and overcast. All groups were shot off sandbags at 200 yards at a range that had more ya-hoos sighting in their rifles for wisconsin deer season than I care to discuss :x The 22-250 will not shoot 55 grain bullets, plain and simple. The best group today after changing the seating depth to 20 thousands off the lands was about 3 inches.

Looks like you got one winner there at least. If thats a 200yds you got some good dog medicine. I'll never shoot a group that good- specially when its cold enough for yotes. CL

Still really confused why the 55's won't shoot in this riflle, but doubt the yotes will know the difference with the 50's. Not sure what the hides will look like with the Berger bullet (biggest hollowpoint I have seen since the Speer 52 grain version), but I'm not into making money from the hides anyway. Maybe they won't exit and will be the perfect bullet.

I haven't used this rifle for P-dogs, but may need to take it along just to see what kind of explosions can be made

Apparently, like quite a few other .22-250's, it just likes the stubby, lighter bullets. That will work!

Yup, looks like you have a winner. I should think that the coyotes will be sweating mid-winter with that load afield.

I know it can be frustrating when a rifle does not like the bullet you want to shootl But it looks like you are in the game and thats all good.
